What began in 2024 as a way to revive our Art for Healing Gallery has grown into a twice-a-year celebration of the creativity within Penn Medicine Princeton Health. Our Fall Art Show is now open, featuring over 40 uplifting and inspiring pieces, from photography to paintings, created by employees, medical staff, volunteers, and for the first time, their family members. Each exhibit kicks off with a opening reception for our artists, and the gallery (located near the Medical Arts Pavilion) remains open for patients, visitors, and staff to enjoy every day.

Thank you to for supporting submissions and installation, and to the Princeton Anesthesia Services Art Gallery Endowment for making this program possible.

For the past seven years, Penn Medicine Princeton Health medical technologist Marlene Sisti has been making an incredible impact beyond the Core Laboratory. Marlene volunteers with Attitudes in Reverse, a nonprofit dedicated to youth mental health and su***de prevention.

With su***de being the third-leading cause of death among youth in her community, Marlene partners with schools across Mercer County to help students recognize early signs of mental health struggles. She brings along two very special sources of comfort: her therapy dogs, Harley and Murphy.

“My volunteer work is extremely gratifying,” Marlene said. “The smiles on the students’ faces demonstrate the effectiveness of our visit.”

Marlene was the recipient of a Penn Medicine CAREs grant that will help Attitudes in Reverse continue providing education and support materials for students. We’re proud to celebrate Marlene for the difference she’s making, both inside and outside our walls.

Sometimes, the best way to recharge is to simply step outside. No one knows this better than Ria Benerofe and Penn Medicine Princeton Health Community Wellness team members Rob Manlio and Monica Daszykowski, who recently hosted a Gratitude Walk at the beautiful Plainsboro Preserve.

The quiet trails and last burst of color offered a peaceful reset for participants. Even under overcast skies, the walk became a gentle reminder to slow down, breathe deeply, and reconnect with gratitude. We so appreciate our Community Wellness team, whose creativity and compassion shine in everything they do.

This Thanksgiving, Penn Medicine Princeton House Behavioral Health patients received 105 handmade cards filled with hope and encouragement from The College of New Jersey's (TCNJ) Collegiate Recovery Program.

Delivered by Eric Van Eck, recovery and prevention coordinator of the TCNJ Collegiate Recovery Program and TCNJ students, the cards reminded patients they’re supported by a community that truly cares. “Our mission is to bring hope and joy to our patients,” said Yuko Martin, director of allied clinical therapies. “These messages mean the world.”

For TCNJ students, it’s personal. “We want them to know we’re thinking of them,” shared student Gabriella Chiricolo. “It’s a community effort,” added student Laura Near. TCNJ remains a dedicated partner, continually finding meaningful ways to uplift and support patients on their recovery journey.

The Cancer Center at Penn Medicine Princeton Health hosted a beautiful Celebration of Life Service in the hospital’s Education Center. It was an evening dedicated to honoring and remembering loved ones lost to cancer.

As guests arrived, they were invited to choose a black stone from the welcome table and write a loved one’s name or a personal message, a simple, grounding ritual that set the tone for the evening.

Rev. Samuel Yenn-Batah opened the service with a warm welcome, a moment of silence, and later offered a heartfelt closing message. Karen Davison, an oncology nurse navigator, then shared a moving Maya Angelou poem, “When Great Trees Fall,” capturing the deep ache and quiet resilience of loss.

Oncologist Dr. Ramy Sedhom reflected on the privilege of caring for patients and families through some of life’s hardest moments. A choir-like ensemble filled the room with a stunning performance of “O Love,” adding another layer of comfort and reflection.

Thank you to every family who joined us. Your loved ones were held in memory, light, and community.

Penn Medicine Princeton Health is proud to be one of the first hospitals in New Jersey to launch TeamBirth, a powerful, patient-centered approach that transforms the birthing experience.

Supported by the NJ Department of Health, TeamBirth creates regular “huddles” between patients and their care team to review progress, talk through preferences, and adjust plans together. A shared planning board lists everyone involved, including the patient and their support person, so goals, decisions, and next steps are always clear.

The result? Birth experiences that are more collaborative, more transparent, and truly centered around families.

When Mavin Sakwa, RN, first stepped into Penn Medicine Princeton Medical Center, he wasn’t just starting a new job, he was stepping into a journey. A former nursing assistant and driver, Mavin joined our first-of-its-kind, 12-month hybrid nurse residency program, eager to grow and explore.

“Working with nurse colleagues who are so passionate about their jobs has motivated me to join them,” Mavin said. “I’m gaining hands-on medical-surgical skills while still pursuing my interest in psychiatric nursing.”

Through rotations in medical neurological oncology and Princeton House Behavioral Health’s inpatient psychiatric unit, Mavin, and all of our new nurses, gain the broad experience and confidence they need to thrive, building a strong foundation for a meaningful career in nursing.

For Veterans Day, our community came together to honor the brave men and women who have served our country. From heartfelt “Thank-a-Veteran” cards to the moving flagpole ceremony, every moment reflected deep gratitude and respect for those who protect our freedoms.

Team members joined in Red, White & Blue Day, enjoyed cookies and conversation by the Veterans Employee Resource Group, and paused for a shared moment of silence in remembrance and appreciation.

To all veterans: thank you for your service and sacrifice.

What a day at the Princeton Health Baby Fair & Expo! Over 400 parents, parents-to-be, and little ones joined us at Princeton Medical Center for an afternoon of learning, connection, and fun.

A big highlight: our car seat safety checks, thanks to the Plainsboro Fire Department and NJ State Police, keeping families safe from day one. Our Maternal Child Health team, including Maternal Fetal Medicine, Pelvic Wellness, Labor & Delivery, NICU, and Lactation, was there to meet families and help ease the unknowns of the parenting journey.

Huge thanks to our amazing staff and vendors for making the day such a success!

When patients come to the Penn Medicine Princeton Health Shoulder Center, they often meet two people who make all the difference: Adrien and Nikha.

Nurse practitioner Adrien Heller and nurse navigator Nikha Parma work hand in hand to make each patient’s journey as smooth and supported as possible. Adrien provides expert clinical care from assessments and pre/postoperative management to prescribing medications and monitoring recovery in close collaboration with the orthopedic surgeon. Meanwhile, Nikha is the steady guide by each patient’s side, coordinating care, providing education, and ensuring every question is answered along the way.

Their teamwork helps create the kind of exceptional experience that earned the Penn Medicine Princeton Health Shoulder Center the Joint Commission Disease-Specific Certification in Shoulder Arthroplasty, a recognition of the team’s commitment to quality, safety, and patient-centered care.

When the Eatontown Outpatient team at Princeton House Behavioral Health chose their employee of the quarter, they couldn’t pick just one. Instead, they honored everyone because every therapist, nurse, front desk team member, advanced practice nurse, and psychiatrist has played a vital role in keeping care exceptional and operations seamless.

When challenges arose, this crew showed what true teamwork looks like: stepping up for their patients and for each other, sharing responsibilities, staying flexible, and never compromising on compassion. Their resilience, collaboration, and heart embody what Princeton House Behavioral Health is all about.

We're proud of the Eatontown Outpatient team for their extraordinary dedication to serving our community!

It was a night of connection and collaboration at Penn Medicine Princeton Health as we hosted the Princeton Mercer Regional Chamber’s October Business After Business event in our west entrance atrium!

Local professionals came together to network, share ideas, and celebrate the partnerships that keep our community strong. Our CEO, James Demetriades, shared exciting updates on the future of our campus, from our new parking garage to the upcoming cancer center. It was an inspiring evening of innovation, conversation, and community.
