This Witch... the LoonWitch
This little witch has been my icon since she was received as a Yule gift from a co-worker in 2011.... we have traveled the world together. I hope that you have enjoyed seeing images of her from places as far away as China and as close to home in my home town... even in my yard! Being a bit camera shy, I am grateful that she is so photogenic.
It’s important to me when people ask about using her that I let them know; first and foremost she is a beloved gift from someone who truly believes in me. And the sentiment behind it is unconditional love. So, why do I use the “wicked witch of the west” as my icon? Well... as a POP figurine, she certainly isn’t very scary... and as I said she is photogenic... in my heart, she represents all witches who have been misunderstood or abused for their beliefs. She is a conversation starter, and she allows people to be a bit more open to education about witchcraft, it’s history and practice... if you are curious about something, just ask me.
The best way to learn about something is to ask questions. I am never offended by questions that are asked, and though “assuming” makes an “ass” out of “you” and “me”; I do assume that when people ask me questions, it is genuinely because they are curious and want to know... there is no malicious intention behind asking a question.
I have always been the way that I am, a lover of nature, attuned to the cycles of the moon and the seasons of the year in the Western Hemisphere... I look forward to the lilacs blooming for my birthday and for the honeysuckle to be out by Memorial Day... I love being able to look to the sky and know where the cardinal directions of East, South, West and North are.... I would not live my life any other way than the way that I have chosen each day.
