📚 Ascension St. Elizabeth Hospital is proud to join the 2025 Babies With Books NICU Read-A-Thon: a nationwide celebration of the power of shared reading in the NICU.

Reading helps build bonding, brain development and emotional connection for babies and families. Thanks to generous book donations from staff, community members, and former NICU grads, the shelves at St. Elizabeth's are full and stories are being shared every day.

The NICU team loves reading to these sweet little ones — it's a special part of the compassionate care we provide. 💕

This morning, Ascension Wisconsin proudly stood in solidarity with our community at the Milwaukee County 9/11 Memorial Ceremony held at the War Memorial Center.

Representing Ascension were our President Daniel Jackson and members of our Prehospital Team: a reflection of our ongoing commitment to supporting public safety at both the state and national level.

We were honored to join local leaders and public safety professionals in remembering the lives lost and the heroes who responded on that fateful day.

We will never forget. 🇺🇸

Ascension St. Francis Hospital was featured on FOX6 News as the first site of care in Wisconsin to offer a new FDA-approved infusion treatment for Alzheimer’s disease. 🧠

Carole and Jim, a Brookfield couple, share their story of the expert care they have received through this new treatment. Dr. Bhupendra Khatri explains how it can slow Alzheimer’s progression, and may even improve memory.

This is another example of how Ascension Wisconsin is helping lead the way in bringing groundbreaking treatments to our patients. đź’™

Grace Schultz was three months pregnant when a motorcycle accident changed everything. An SUV unexpectedly pulled out in front of her. She swerved, but couldn't avoid impact.

Her injuries were devastating: crushed left foot, shattered pelvis, broken arm. She required a below-knee amputation. But through five surgeries and extensive inpatient rehabilitation at Memorial Hospital, the Beacon Bone & Joint Specialists team never gave up on helping her rebuild her life.

Grace's recovery was remarkable. Within six months, she took her first steps with a prosthetic leg. Then she gave birth to a healthy baby girl. Today, she's back to work, raising three kids, and yes, she's still riding motorcycles.

"No matter how dark you might feel once in a while, things will get better. I still ride motorcycles. I have three kids. It only stops you if you let it." Read Grace's inspiring journey: https://bit.ly/4m9hqHA

Leg pain isn’t just part of getting older. It could be a sign of something more serious — Peripheral Artery Disease (PAD). PAD affects blood flow to your legs and feet, and it often goes undiagnosed.

If you have risk factors like smoking, diabetes, or high blood pressure—or if you’re noticing symptoms like leg cramps or slow-healing wounds—it’s time to pay attention. A simple screening is the first step. The Beacon heart and vascular team can plan your treatment, save a limb, and even offer a custom exercise plan to match your abilities.

September is Peripheral Artery Disease Awareness Month. Swipe through to learn the signs, know your risk, and find out why early detection matters. Learn more at https://bit.ly/45u5ITk

08/29/2025

Kids are settling into their school routines, but many parents are still dealing with two common challenges that can impact their child's success this year.

Sleep struggles are real. "It's incredibly important that kids get enough sleep," says Sherri Biever, nurse practitioner, Beacon Medical Group Pediatrics Main Street. "The biggest difficulty this time of year is that transition when we've let our children sleep a little later or go to bed a little later."

The impact goes beyond just feeling tired. "Sleep is being linked to so many things," she says. "Anxiety and depression symptoms can stem from the lack of sleep and a good night's sleep. It's important to establish a good routine."

And if you're one of those parents who meant to schedule that annual checkup but summer got away from you, there's still time.

"We want to make sure your kids are healthy and that they're growing mentally and developmentally where they're supposed to be," says Madison Parker, also a nurse practitioner who works with Biever.

Both nurse practitioners recently appeared on WSBT HomeTown Living. Watch their full interview: https://bit.ly/3HvfmeT
