Maroon Chiropractic is a family based practice located right off Main Street in Salem, New Hampshire (inside the offices of Gabriel Chiropractic). Dr. Stephen T. Maroon has been a local resident to the Southern New Hampshire / Northern Massachusetts region for 26 years. He attended Central Catholic High School in Lawrence, Massachusetts followed by the University of Tampa where he received a bache
lor’s degree in biology. With guidance from his family, Stephen attended Palmer College of Chiropractic where he graduated Magna Cum Laude and Presidential Scholar in March, 2014. Looking to make a difference in his community, Dr. Maroon returned home where he has hopes to improve the lives of patients in Southern New Hampshire and the Merrimack Valley. Chiropractic is a health care profession that focuses on disorders of the musculoskeletal system, the nervous system, and the effects of these disorders on general health. It is a practice which utilizes a drug-free hands on approach, which includes patient examination, diagnosis and treatment. The most common therapeutic procedure performed by chiropractors is known as “spinal manipulation” or a “chiropractic adjustment.” The purpose of manipulation is to restore joint mobility by manually applying a controlled force into joints that have hypomobile, or restricted in their movement, as a result of tissue injury. Tissue injuries may occur through a single traumatic event, or through repetitive stresses (such as sitting in an awkward position with poor spinal posture for an extended period of time). In either case, injured tissues undergo physical and chemical changes that cause inflammation, pain and diminished function for the sufferer. Spinal manipulation of the affected joint and tissues restores mobility, thereby alleviating pain and muscle tightness, and allowing injured tissues to heal. Maroon Chiropractic also utilizes modern therapeutic modalities including Class IV (hot) laser therapy, kinesio-taping, electrical stimulation, functional exercises, various soft-tissue therapies, ultrasound, ice and heat to support the chiropractic adjustment. Each of these modalities serves a different function to aid the chiropractic adjustment and increases healing time to the injured tissues.
