In Memory of Dame Jane Goodall (1934 – 2025)

We mourn the passing of a true legend — Dr. Jane Goodall, whose boundless curiosity, deep compassion, and radical kindness changed how we see our planet and all its creatures. Her pioneering work with chimpanzees in Gombe transformed science, but she never stopped pushing us to act with heart for the world we share.

Jane reminded us that we all can make a difference — that every act of caring, no matter how small, ripples outward. She founded the Jane Goodall Institute, launched the Roots & Shoots youth program, and traveled even into her later years to speak truth about climate, wildlife, and hope.

Let’s honor her by recommitting — to protecting habitats, to speaking for those without a voice, and to nurturing empathy in future generations. The world is dimmer without her light, but her legacy burns on in all of us who believe in change.

Rest gently, Jane. You showed us how fierce love can bee.

Meet Susan Boyle — a woman who knows that seeing through the laughter and sticking to your passion can change a life forever. From being bullied and written off, to stepping onto the stage of Britain’s Got Talent and receiving a standing ovation, her journey reminds us all: perseverance is a gift.

Susan was diagnosed with Asperger’s later in life, and she once said,“Asperger’s doesn’t define me. It’s just a condition I have to live with and work through.”

Alpaca Day y’all!

Established in 2014 by the Alpaca Owners Association, this day raises awareness about the vital role alpacas play in agriculture through their gentle grazing habits and highly valued fiber, while encouraging the conservation of these charming and sensitive animals and their habitats.

Whether you visit a local alpaca farm, explore the benefits of alpaca wool, or simply share information about these soft-footed companions, today is the perfect opportunity to show appreciation. Alpacas have served humanity for thousands of years—not only providing luxurious, hypoallergenic wool, but also helping with pasture maintenance in an environmentally friendly way.

Today is Talk Like a Pirate Day, celebrated every year on September 19.
What began as a playful idea in 1995—when friends John Baur (“Ol’ Chumbucket”) and Mark Summers (“Cap’n Slappy”) started talking like pirates during a racquetball match—has grown into a global, lighthearted celebration. In 2002, humorist Dave Barry highlighted it in his column, turning a private joke into a worldwide phenomenon.

Whether you greet someone with “Ahoy, matey!” or sneak in an “Arrr!” at just the right moment, the point is to have fun and share some rum...er... we mean share a laugh!

It’s a simple way to break the routine and bring some swashbuckling charm to the day. What about coming to work all deck out in Black Beard garb, or hosting a pirate-themed gathering, or even sprinkling your posts with pirate lingo. What do you think you'll blurb out first—“Avast,” “Shiver me timbers,” or something else entirely?
