Spasticity is a condition in which certain muscles are continuously contracted. This contraction can lead to the sensation of tight muscles, which can interfere with normal movement, speech, and gait. This condition is quite common and affects more than an estimated 12 million people worldwide. Some adverse effects of Spasticity include:
🔹Muscle Stiffness
🔹Muscle Spasms
🔹Involuntary crossing of the legs
🔹Muscle and joint deformities
🔹Muscle fatigue
There are several treatment options available that can help. For instance, our providers use BTA (Botulinum Toxin, commonly known as Botox Injections) to treat patients for Spasticity.💉BTA has been proven to treat spastic muscles. It works by blocking the release of Acetylcholine, and this blocking mechanism helps to relax overactive muscles.
