We strip away all of the tech and make training down and dirty. Endurance simplified.
Mudslingers Endurance Coaching has partnered with Mudslingers Bike Shop in the far burbs of Chicago to offer our athletes the opportunity to train and race with purity.

The big crashes. The stupid mistakes. The poor line choices. The silly mess ups. They all make you into a better rider IF YOU LEARN FROM THEM.
Don’t get embarrassed when you crash. Don’t beat yourself up (for too long). Assess what you did wrong, learn from it and do your best to apply it to your riding in future.
When you can unemotionally assess what you are doing right and what you are doing wrong you can improve. When you beat yourself up and put yourself down, you stand no chance

Props to Kristi Drake! She had to sit out the Dust Bowl 100 due to injury limiting her outside riding…so she rode the course on the trainer! Talk about GRIT.
Amazing work Kristi!

While out riding our bikes along some lonely gravel road in some way-out west town, Al and I decided to cut ties with our current coaching en devour and start fresh, rediscover our roots . . . cuz roots are dirty and Al and I love to play in the mud. We brainstormed catchy business names allowing us to pass the miles and ultimately we settled on Dirtbag Coaching. Alas, it was not meant to be. Suddenly, as quickly as lightning strikes a corn crib (we are Midwesterners) the proverbial light switch was flipped and Al who always dons his entrepreneurial cap, suggested we connect with his former bike shop Mudslingers . . . and so we did.
Here we are, excited because everything’s new and sparkly again. We’re into anything and everything dirt. But if that’s not your jam, that’s OK. We just wanna help YOU be the best athlete YOU can be. Whether it be road, water, gravel paths, single track we’re down if you are.
Al and I have pretty much done it all with regards to racing. You name it, I bet we’ve stood on the starting line gave it our best go. So if you’re an aspiring IMer, XTERRA Warrior, RAM rider, Multi-day MTB stage racer, Ultra-endurance Anton Krupicka type mountain runner well buck-a-roo we are waiting for you. We’ll get you there baby! Don’t fret, we’re not gonna hook you up to power meters, VO2 max-Dr.-Kevorkian-machines, poke and prod you for lactate or write up programming that you need a PhD in Excel to understand. We’re down and dirty, just like you.
Mudslingers Endurance Coaching is operated by husband and wife duo Al and Kristen Wade. The Wades have a decades of coaching, fitness, and racing experience between the two of them. Both are career firefighters in the far west suburbs of Chicago and avid endurance athletes.
Coach Al and K know the challenges athletes face when training for their A race. We can help brave the seas and tailor a training program specifically to fit your needs, your schedule and your ambitions.
You might be new to endurance sports, you might be signing up for your first triathlon. We'll break it down for you. Or, you might be a salty veteran who has ridden his / her bike cross country. Whatever your ability, we can offer guidance and specificity to help you reach your athletic goals.
We offer reasonable monthly pricing and training packages (please phone us for consultation). All training is web-based and sent daily to your inbox or via the Training Peaks App.
