For prevention and to strengthen your immune system
Carry a hand towel with you (preferably with disinfectant on it) to touch all surfaces rather than using your hands or another body part. Clean your credit card before returning it to your wallet.
Get acupuncture
It boosts the immune system's production of natural killer cells for up to 3 days after each treatment. It helps improve immunity, by reducing inflammation and stimulating blood and lymph circulation. It also relieves aches and pains, calms coughing and wheezing, and helps stuffed sinuses drain.
Adequate Sleep
At least 7 hours of sleep per night is the single most impactful action you can take to improve your immunity, energy level, mood, and overall health. If you have any type of insomnia, allergies, or snoring acupuncture can help with these issues and therefore improve your sleep.
Feed your body
Eating foods like organic fruits and vegetables, lean healthy proteins, healthy fats and nuts and seeds are the cornerstones for good immune function. Probiotics and digestive enzymes are often beneficial for good gut health and digestion.
Some of our common everyday foods can be contributing to low-level inflammation in our digestive tracts which disrupts overall health and immunity. The common inflammatory foods for most people are sugar, gluten, corn, soy, and dairy. When our stomach is irritated, our food isn’t being broken down or absorbed efficiently, so we’re not extracting enough nutrients to keep us fully healthy.
Supplements for prevention & Treatment
Always talk with a qualified healthcare professional before making any changes to your supplement or herbal routine.
• Vitamin D3: Vitamin D is vitally important to immune system function and response. It is essential to successfully fight infections. Ask your primary care provider to check your vitamin D level. (Normal is 40 – 80. I like to see it at the upper level.) For most people taking 2,000 iu daily is sufficient. Check your levels to determine specifically.
• Medicinal mushrooms: Mushrooms like shiitake, reishi, maitake, and cordyceps have all been shown to strengthen immunity in different capacities. Reishi, improve immunity and resistance to colds, and also relax and calm the nervous system.
• Vitamin C: Can reduce the duration and severity of colds. I like Emergen-c packets (2-3 per day for an adult) during cold and flu season.
• Oscillococcinum: This is a homeopathic remedy made by Boiron. Keep it on hand and take it if you feel like you maybe might be ever so slightly starting to come down with something.
• Zinc: (Zinc gluconate, and zinc acetate.)Can help prevent catching colds. It has also been proven to reduce the expression of viruses which means you recover faster when you do get sick. Recommended dosages for adults about 40 mg.
• Chinese herbs: There are many Chinese herbal formulas to treat colds and flu. Your practitioner will decide and prescribe the one appropriate for your constitution and type of colds you tend to get (head cold vs. chest cold, respiratory infections, chronic recurring sinus infections, or long lingering cough,)
• Other Supplements: Elderberry extract, Air borne, echinacea, and various immune supporting herbs / supplements may be appropriate for you.

Guidance from the CDC on Staying Healthy:
• Wash your hands thoroughly and use alcohol-based hand sanitizers.
• Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth with unwashed hands.
• Stay home when you’re sick and encourage family to do the same.
• Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
• Cover coughs and sneezes with a tissue, throw the tissue in the trash and immediately wash your hands. No tissue? Cough or sneeze into your elbow, not your hands.
