π August 9 | International Day of the Worldβs Indigenous Peoples
Today we honor the resilience, wisdom, and cultural heritage of Indigenous communities worldwide.
This day marks the anniversary of the first meeting of the United Nations Working Group on Indigenous Populations in 1982 β a pivotal step toward recognizing Indigenous rights, voices, and leadership on the global stage.
Indigenous peoples have made immeasurable contributions to medicine, particularly in the realm of plant-based and psychedelic therapies. Long before these compounds entered modern clinical research, Indigenous healers practiced ceremonial and therapeutic use of natural substances like ayahuasca, psilocybin mushrooms, pe**te, and iboga with deep respect for their healing power.
As clinical research advances into psychedelic-assisted therapies for mental health, itβs crucial to honor and acknowledge the traditional knowledge and spiritual practices from which many of thaese treatments originate.
Let this day be a reminder:
πΈ To amplify Indigenous voices in science and medicine
πΈ To build ethical, inclusive, and respectful research frameworks
πΈ To protect cultural and intellectual sovereignty of Indigenous communities.
As we look to the future of mental health and healing, AIM Trials remains committed to conducting psychedelic research with integrity, cultural respect, and scientific rigor. Learn more about our work in advancing safe, ethical psychedelic studies here:
