We don’t take Freedom and Independence lightly!

I was born free, but I come from a nation of bravery and valor that fought for their freedom and independence, not for decades… but over a Century!! Our forefathers gave their lives so we could have a HOME we can call ours…

Enjoying the lazy Summer Sundays….

The kids picked what they wanted for dinner… scrambled eggs and toast with a side of avocado and black olives. I threw in some sliced sweet peppers and baby spinach for good measure , and their immediate reaction was…

“Wow!!! So colorful!”

I knew right away we had a winner 🏆

You see, eating is a multi sensory experience! And before we even touch the food, it has to smell and “LOOK” good!

This is especially true for our little ones!
🍳When they get to choose what they want to eat, we have immediate buy in.
🍳 When we present it in a way that it appeals to them, they are bound to get curious even if the foods may not be their choice.
🍳 And if the new food tastes good, that’s just a bonus!!

It is very hard for young children to sit still for long durations. While they love stories, movement is almost a necessity!!

📚This is why I design fun sensory activities around story time that include whole body movement and lots of language learning opportunities! I have also used storybooks to introduce new foods and flavors to children.

📚 I have used these activities with my own children and the children that I worked with and they keep asking for “more, more, more…”! So I created a whole library of activity ideas to accompany children’s books.

Last week my kids had a Bike-A-Thon event at school. And even though my 8-year old is an excellent bike rider… she passed!!!

I was upset at first, because you know… I’m her Mom and want to push her to do EVERYTHING!!

But when I finally got around to just asking her why she didn’t participate, her answers and her reasons blew my mind 🤯

Our children have so much wisdom and as parents we sometimes forget to trust them when they show us their boundaries! But this was a loving reminder to not only be my child’s Parent, but also her PARTNER 💕
