Good times with 4th year medical student, Ashley Abraham ! Ashley will be applying to PM&R residency in the next couple of months. It was a quick two week rotation at Texas Back Institute , but we were able to go through a lot of interventional spine 💉and NCS/EMG teaching points!

It's been a minute since I've had a formal medical student rotate with me at ! Had a great time with Bergen Lemack, a third year med student at who will be applying to PM&R for residency 🙌🏽 He did awesome and is going to make a great addition to any program!

Bergen came into the rotation wanting to get a good idea of what it's like being a physiatrist who specializes in interventional spine and musculoskeletal medicine 💉🦴🏃🏼‍♀️🏋🏽 He got to see a lot over the 4 weeks! Shout out to my patients who are always so willing to have students and residents learn from them ❤️

✨️Fun fact -- Bergen and I grew up in the same neighborhood and went to the same elementary 🐻 middle 🐎 high 🐴 and senior high 🐺 schools! Although 13 years apart 😂👵🏽 Pretty cool to have these full circle moments in my career!

What a fun month with resident, Dr. Ashkan Khosravi! His rotation at confirmed he wants to go into interventional spine and musculoskeletal medicine 🙌🏽 He will be applying to fellowships in the next few months to match into a 1 year program to hone his interventional skills. He is off to a great start and is going to do awesome! 💪🏼

The nurses at really got into the Halloween spirit. Check out our "boo boo" crew shirts 👻💉 (yes, Dr. Khosravi and I wore them over our lead... how else will anyone see them 😂). Also, keep swiping to check out the creative pumpkin they made... the best, so cute! 🎃

Did you know that Texas Back Institute is one of the largest freestanding multidisciplinary academic spine centers in the world 🌏🌎🌍

Part of being a "privademic" group (private practice that also has a strong academic component), I get to teach medical students, residents and fellows. We even have a formal spine surgery fellowship program. Our fellows will be graduating soon and joining their own practices!

This morning at 6:15 AM 🌄 at our Plano office, I gave our fellows (Drs. Prevost, Fasani-Feldberg and Dunn) as well as medical student, Sophia Mecatti, a hands-on lecture on NCS/EMG studies. Sophia then joined me in the fluoroscopy suite in Frisco to observe some spine procedures! Ignore our mismatched and ill-fitting thyroid shields 😆 Fun day!
