Whether you're a parent trying to get organized for the fall or a teenager trying to juggle school, extra curricular activities, friends, & family these four tips can help you day to day.
Prioritize tasks: figure out what needs to get done & when, sometimes it helps to make big tasks into smaller ones. I find that I am more productive when I can complete a bunch of small tasks rather than one giant one. (ex: clean the house vs. vacuum, dust, laundry)
Organize: write down what you have to get done, like your school assignments, grocery shopping, getting your oil changed, etc. I find whenever I do not write down what I have to get done, I constantly have this nagging feeling I am forgetting something (because I probably am). When I write things down, I am able to go back and check and get rid of that nagging feeling.
Create a timeframe: how long will it take you to do your homework or wash the dishes? Give yourself enough time to get what you need to get your stuff done. It is easy to get burnt out quickly, so find what works for you! Some prefer a full Sunday reset, others do little things throughout the week to reset.
Establish goals: ensure your goals are clear, achievable and REALISTIC. If we set unrealistic expectations for ourselves we set up ourselves for failure and lose motivation to be productive.
We expect change to be a quick, easy, aha moment and sometimes it is but most times its small baby steps toward our end goal that create lasting change.
