Professional History:

After many years of experience in the therapeutic field working with children and adolescence at Centers for Youth and Families in the state of Arkansas, I decided to move to Texas to further my education in counseling and to become licensed as a professional counselor. While supporting a family of my own, my wife of fifteen years and three boys I saw the need to return to school and earned a M.A. in Counseling at Prairie View A&M University of Texas and became certified as a License Professional Counselor(LPC). Since establishing my career in Texas I’ve worked as a Mentor Coordinator where I’ve matched over 4,000 children with qualified mentors in the Turn Around Agenda program founded by Dr. Tony Evans at Oak Cliff Bible Fellowship over a five year term. Currently I'm persuing my employed at Hickory Trail Hospital in Desoto, TX as a lead therapist. I am licensed by the Texas State Board of Social Worker Examiners and am qualified to counsel all ages including but not limited to individuals, couples, families, and/or groups. My experience includes work as a private practitioner and as a hospital-based therapist. I have enjoyed the privilege of helping clients achieve solutions for a wide range of personal and mental health issues including depression, anxiety, anger, suicidal thoughts, addictions, physical and sexual abuse recovery, relationship problems, and adjustment issues.

When the ache of staying still
outgrows the ache of moving on,
your soul whispers—it’s time.
But when the wound of change
cuts deeper than the comfort of the known,
you’re not ready… not yet."Dr. Chism

I have enjoyed the privilege of helping clients achieve solutions for a wide range of personal and mental health issues including depression, anxiety, anger, grief, addictions, physical and sexual abuse, relationship issues, and diagnosis such as bipolar and ADHD to name a few.

Together with my wife, now of 21 years - who has always been my biggest support and greatest inspiration, has been working alongside me as my Executive Director for over 8 years at our own private practice. She also serves as a Life Coach, working closely with and supporting young women who struggle with self-esteem issues. She’s the Founder of “A Writer Heart” Journal Therapy Club. A women's support group. Her amazing capacity to support others has allowed her an opportunity to teach women across the nation about the power of journaling. And together we help people find the purpose beyond their pain. She is truly my soul-mate.
