Today, we celebrate the International Day of Charity, a day dedicated to recognizing the profound impact of giving and generosity. Charity is not just a noble act; it has significant psychological benefits. When we give, our brains release “feel-good” chemicals like serotonin, dopamine, and oxytocin, which enhance our mood and create a sense of connection with others.

Charity is the virtue that directly challenges the deadly sin of greed. Greed, characterized by an excessive desire for material wealth, can lead to stress, anxiety, depression, and social isolation. It fosters a mindset focused on accumulation rather than connection, often resulting in feelings of emptiness and lack of fulfillment.
