Meet Mr. Garcia who was admitted to Acute Rehabilitation Hospital of Plano after a traumatic brain injury that left him with significant cognitive deficits and physical difficulties. When he first arrived, he was unable to walk, required 2 person assist just to stand and needed help for most daily activities.

After 20 days of dedicated rehabilitation, he achieved remarkable progress thanks to the tireless efforts of our incredible interdisciplinary team - physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, nursing, and medical staff.

Today, he is walking and performing all ADLs with supervision. His cognitive function and problem-solving skills have improved tremendously. He has now transitioned to an outpatient therapy neuro program, where he continues to make huge strides in strength, coordination, communication, and independence—just like you can see in this video.

We are incredibly proud of his resilience and our team’s dedication, compassion, and skill. These are the moments that remind us why we do what we do.

He is proof that every step forward—no matter how small—leads to life-changing progress.

Here at Acute Rehabilitation Hospital of Plano, our Occupational Therapists teach you simple ways to save energy and make everyday tasks easier:

✅ Use a shower chair and handheld showerhead
✅ Plan and pace your day — take breaks often

Our 2nd Annual Trunk or Treat was a wickedly wonderful success, thanks to our incredible sponsors, employees, and community partners who came together to make this event so special.

From the creative trunks to the amazing costumes, every detail reflected the heart of our community. We laughed, we danced (yes, even the Cha Cha Slide! 💃🕺), and we celebrated what makes our community such a connected and caring place.

The sense of unity and joy could be felt all evening as families, staff, and local partners came together to make memories that truly capture the spirit of the season.
