Happy Earth Day!
Dr. Rahul Banerjee, MD is a board-certified and fellowship-trained orthopaedic surgeon with a passion for his work and for the people he serves. After earning his medical degree and finishing residency, he spent an additional year completing an orthopedic fellowship before serving in the United States Air Force. Dr. Banerjee was assigned to work with the United States Army, treating injured patients and training orthopedic residents at the William Beaumont Army Medical Center.
During his service, he was deployed to Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and treated injured soldiers and civilians. In 2010, Dr. Banerjee organized a group of his colleagues to travel to Haiti to treat injured patients after the earthquake. “I have taken care of many of the worst injuries imaginable over the past 20 years including car accidents, war injuries, falls and motorcycle crashes,” Dr. Banerjee says. “This experience has given me a unique perspective and confidence in treating complex orthopaedic problems for my patients today.”
Today, Dr. Banerjee works alongside physician assistant Briana Hodgson, PA-C at his practice, North Texas Orthopaedic and Spine, LLC, in Plano and Carrollton. Their clinical interests encompass hip and knee replacement (including direct anterior hip replacement), treatment of fractures and injuries, and management of complex orthopedic problems including infections, nonunions, leg length discrepancy, and bone loss. Dr. Banerjee is a sought-after expert in joint replacement, fracture treatment and complex revision surgery.
