sometimes babies have their own timeline… 💙🩵
This strong momma had her first baby at the birth center, so when contractions started at 35 weeks and 1 day, home alone with a sleeping toddler and her husband out of town in Baltimore, she wasn’t quite sure if this was it.
But she listened to her intuition. she called the midwife, made a plan, and with her amazing support team, everything came together. her mom came to stay with the toddler, her stepmom drove her to the hospital and stood by her side through the birth.
and when things moved fast, one of our incredible collaborating physicians, dr. hunt, got out of bed at 4:21 am to be there, just in case. that’s what it means to have a team that shows up.
dad joined on facetime, the midwife made it just in time, and this momma brought her baby into the world surrounded by love, strength, and care. birth didn’t go exactly how they imagined, but it unfolded beautifully, with minimal interventions and maximum support. the NICU team gave baby a little extra help, and everyone is doing well.
birth is powerful. unpredictable. and so much easier to face with the right people by your side.
