Human connection is more than a comfort—it’s a powerful part of healthy aging. Conversations, shared activities, and meaningful relationships stimulate the brain, boost mood, and reduce feelings of isolation.

But for many older adults, staying socially active can be a challenge. Limited mobility or the loss of a spouse or even transportation barriers can make it difficult to connect with others. That’s where the right kind of support can make all the difference.

At Right at Home Serving Plantation Florida & Broward County, our caregivers do more than provide assistance; they offer companionship and opportunities for seniors to stay engaged with the world around them.

💙 If your loved one could benefit from a little extra support and companionship, reach out to us today. Together, we can help them stay active and connected in their community. (954) 357-2048

💡 Independence is deeply tied to dignity. For older adults, even small supports can make all the difference in staying confident at home.

Two key ways families can nurture independence:

1️⃣ Safe Home Modifications
Falls are one of the biggest risks to senior health, but thoughtful changes can drastically reduce hazards. These aren’t just “fixes” to the house; they’re tools that empower seniors to move freely and comfortably without fear.

2️⃣ Consistent Routines
Predictability is powerful. Regular meals, medication reminders, and familiar daily habits create stability and ease. For someone living with memory challenges, a steady routine is more than convenience, it’s a source of calm and confidence.

Together, these two approaches support both independence and safety. Seniors get the freedom to enjoy their daily lives while giving families peace of mind. 💙

At Right at Home Serving Plantation Florida & Broward County;, this balance is at the heart of what we do: helping seniors live fully, with the right care in place.

Kent Broussard, a retired accountant in his mid-60s, fulfilled a lifelong dream by enrolling as a freshman at Louisiana State University (LSU) to join its famed Golden Band from Tigerland. His journey began in 1968 when he first saw the band perform as a child. Though he played the sousaphone in high school and college, life led him down a different path—career, family, and eventually retirement.
Broussard never let go of his dream, though. In 2023, he began training physically and musically, even marching through his neighborhood with a 30-pound sousaphone. He applied to LSU, auditioned, and earned a spot in the band. His debut during LSU’s 2025 football season opener drew national attention, with ESPN highlighting his story and the crowd at Tiger Stadium cheering as his image appeared on the jumbo screen.
Kent Broussard’s story reminds us that it’s never too late to chase what sets your soul on fire because, as Kent put it, "People retire, dreams don’t."
