Had a burning desire to make eggs Benedict, complete with hollandaise sauce.
Youngest daughter (26) not only said it was really good, but followed it up with now she can’t eat eggs anyother way.
I call rhat a win.

My wonderful husband surprised me with a new cookbook last week- Taco Tuesday, 52 recipes.
He is not the most adventurous sort when it comes to food.
So I did my take oh huevos rancheros. I am a big fan of using what I have.
I had - corn tortillas, eggs, fresh cilantro, black beans and even cotija cheese.
I didn’t have avocado, which was fine he would have eaten them anyway, pico de gallo, but I didn’t have avocado have salsa.
I thoroughly enjoyed tonight’s dinner.

Tinkered with a copy cat recipe for French’s fried onions. Didn’t have desire to run to the store, but needed to make green bean casserole. And you just can’t have green bean casserole without fried onions. Hubby said they taste just like the stuff out of the cannister. High praise indeed.
I think they taste a lot like the onion straws you get at the harvest fair.

Today we celebrate the new year with a “meal of plenty”. Prime rib roast, potatoes, roasted carrots, salad and pop overs. Apple crisp for dessert.

One of my favorite weekends of the year, Christmas meal preparation.
The turnips are simmering, the cannoli dough is resting , and I am currently in the process of making a pomegranate-lime simple syrup for our holiday cocktail - Pom-Lime-French 75.

Mild panic attack this morning. As I am gathering my ingredients to begin the annual tradition of making Christmas Stolen, I couldn’t find my dough hook for my stand mixer. Crisis averted, it was quickly found. It just blended in with all the white implements. 😅
Time to get my bake on.

It is that time of year, first weekend of December is Stolen weekend. Cherries and raisins have been marinating for over a year. Cannot wait to start kneading the dough. Expect to make about 20 loaves. Time to out your order in- pecan, almond, walnut.
