Thank you so much Linda for your kind words and for trusting me with your legacy. I am grateful and excited for the opportunity to serve my local community as audiologist and owner of Hearing Health & Wellness Center as we move forward.

It is with mixed emotions I share I have retired as owner and audiologist at Hearing Health & Wellness Center. I have enjoyed providing quality hearing care in Plantsville for the past twenty years. The support I have received from this community has been immeasurable. I am pleased to introduce Amanda Ottochian-Tripp, Au.D,
as the new owner and audiologist at Hearing Health & Wellness Center. A dedicated audiologist, Dr. Ottochian-Tripp has years of experience in the field. She has worked as a clinical audiologist, a clinical specialist for a cochlear implant manufacturer, and with a global hearing aid manufacturer, gaining expertise across a broad spectrum of hearing care. Her passion for audiology is deeply personal, as she has close loved ones with hearing loss, fueling her commitment to providing compassionate, patient-centered care. At Hearing Health & Wellness Center, she will strive to improve lives by offering cutting-edge hearing solutions that are uniquely tailored to each individual's specific needs.

Who volunteers for Hearing the Call? Of course, there are many generous audiologists who travel from the U.S. to help hundreds of hearing impaired individuals across the world. But there are also people who have careers outside the medical field, and they’re able to contribute in so many meaningful ways. From registration, to earmolds, to directing patients from room to room, each person who gives back is an essential part of a successful clinic.

Did you know dogs can hear sounds at much higher frequencies than humans? While we catch up to 20,000 Hz, our furry friends can detect up to 65,000 Hz!

What’s one of the biggest challenges of Hearing the Call trips? Testing children in makeshift clinics! Nevertheless, the volunteer audiologists know how to get creative and have fun while getting accurate testing to really change the path of the kids’ lives. The nonprofit tries to fit children with two devices (when needed) because it will dramatically improve their success rate in schools and in their family.

Did you know your ears are self-cleaning? There's no need to risk damaging your eardrum with cotton swabs. Trust your ears to do the work and keep your hearing safe!

Earwax cleaning can be the most popular station in a Hearing the Call clinic depending on the population the nonprofit is serving. Oftentimes, communities lack access to basic hearing care and excess earwax or impacted ears can be a frequent problem. Environment and genetics can play a role in earwax production as well. Regardless, you best believe the patients leave with clean ears — a necessity for accurate testing and proper earmolds.
One of the reasons we love supporting Hearing the Call is because the organization uses best practices when helping patients even in rural and remote areas.
