Okay! We have been inundated with the most annoying phone calls, spam calls!
We are actively taking steps to cut them down but, if you call and I don't answer, PLEASE, leave a voicemail. They are getting good at their caller ID.

Learned something the other day: Fibroblasts (a cell type of connective tissue) make collagen (1 & 2) and elastin when you are growing up, all the way through puberty. Once you are past puberty and roll your ankle (picture bellow) those fibroblasts will ONLY make collagen to repair the tissue (not both collagen and elastin).

We know that the timing of your last meal will impact your sleeping quality but what if we are missing the "what" your eating instead of "timing".
They have found that the MICROnutrients have a bigger impact on sleep than MACROnutrients. Magnesium, Vit C, Folic Acid and Vit E were shown to lead to a deeper and more restful sleep.
If we take a step back, we can say that a quality diet has more of a systematic impact than singlar/ couple of systems.

We always talk about how good exercises is for your body but it also impacts your brain in a big way. Exercising (either cardio or weight) can make your brain "look" younger; the younger it looks the better it works.

We have seen a 1-2 year reduction in "brain age gap" (what the brain look like vs how the brain functions; negative score is good). A year of exercise may leave a longer-lasting imprint on brain network organization. Resting-state connectivity was used to estimate the brains age and found that the network organization spanned across the entire brain.

With this global improvement in neural connectivity rather than localized changes, and heavy training showed greater functional connectivity vs. controls, with many changes in the prefrontal cortex and other regions involved in executive control and motor function.

We all know, getting some sunlight is healthy but it may be just more than vitamin D and circadian rhythm. We may have just found out more aspects that sunlight can help with.
1) It helps keep your blood sugar in a normal range during the day (food intake was a control factor) and helps with burning fat during the day.
2) It can cause a stronger response to melatonin, because total melatonin exposure was higher, AND sunlight starts the circadian rhythm cycle about 45 min earlier than non sunlight.

GO GET SOME SUN!!!

What could be the best measurable indicator for dementia?
It may not be cognition but it may actually be blood pressure.
If you have had hypertension for decades of your life the blood vessel go through changes (endothelial (the most inside layer) dysfunction and arterial stiffness happens before hypertension is diagnosed). Those changes make the blood flow less (systemically) due to resistance that the blood/ heart has to push through. Less blood means less nutrients to your brain.

They may taste good but they're terrible options to start your day. The best start for your day, is a meal high in protein and fiber.
The reason is when you are fasting (over the night) your body is ready and primed for insulin sensitivity. If you start your day with with a high-glycemic, high-starch meal can create a bigger glucose and insulin swing; this may set you up a day of hunger rebounds and cravings.

What if the intensity of the exercises had more "health return" than the time you spent doing the exercises?
In a large analysis of the UK Biobank researched looked into the "health equivalence" of light, moderate, and vigorous activity across major health outcomes.
What they found was remarkable! For 1 minute of vigorous activity was equivalent to about 4–9 minutes of moderate activity and 53–94 minutes of light activity.
The goal is to work with your body type and style to become healthier and not fight against your own body.
