🔸 Sudden Cardiac Arrest is the #2 medical cause of death in children.

Platte Health Center Avera is honored to partner with Screening America to offer Youth Heart Screenings on Thursday, October 2. These screenings are available for anyone ages 11–34 and help detect hidden heart abnormalities that can lead to Sudden Cardiac Arrest.

Each screening includes:
🔸 Limited Echocardiogram (heart ultrasound)
🔹 12-Lead EKG
🔸 Bilateral Blood Pressure Check
🔹 Health History Evaluation
🔸 Evaluation for Marfan Syndrome
🔹 Review by a Board-Certified Cardiologist

In South Dakota, state law (SDCL 32-27-1) requires drivers to yield to pedestrians in a crosswalk — including those along highways (like the one connecting Platte Health Center Avera's north and south parking lots). With additional marked crosswalks throughout our community, it’s essential that we all stay alert and respectful.

Here’s how you can help keep everyone safe:
✅ Slow down when approaching a crosswalk.
✅ Stop for anyone waiting to cross.
✅ Stay alert — pedestrians ALWAYS have the right-of-way in marked crosswalks.
