I know this goes against everything your great grandma tells you, but babies should not wear socks or footed pajamas all the time. Our feet are full of sensory nerve endings and direct contact with the grass, sand, skin, floor, etc. helps to process sensory input, which is crucial for developing proprioception and balance. 👣
When the feet are constantly covered, it can interfere with natural reflexes that play a role in motor development. These natural reflexes like the plantar grasp reflex play a very important role in crawling and even walking.
Babies learn so much through their feet when grabbing them, putting them in their mouth, kicking, and touching different surfaces. This important information is then sent to the brain for sensory input and development.
Of course you should cover your baby's feet at night while they sleep if thats what you choose, but once they are up let those feet be bare!
