Some foods burn clean while others produce exhaust and free radicals causing damage to our tissues and cells ultimately producing inflammation. Inflammation can be the cause of headaches, lack of energy, high blood pressure, heart conditions, auto immune disease, or diseases such as cancer. The best way to avoid inflammation is to choose real whole foods over processed foods (those from a box, bag or can). This list is a good example of some of the whole foods that would help tame free radicals and inflammation. Reach out if you have any other questions!

Protein provides us with the building blocks of life—helping us make muscle, connective tissue, hair, blood, enzymes, neurotransmitters, and more. Clearly, it’s important that we’re eating enough of this essential macronutrient if we want to feel strong, energized, and healthy.

But many of us may not be getting enough protein in our daily diets. The RDA, or recommended dietary allowance, is 0.8 grams of protein per kilogram of body weight per day. To easily calculate your own RDA for protein, just multiply your weight in pounds by 0.36. For someone who is 150 pounds, that would be 54 grams of protein.

The catch is that the RDA is the minimum amount of protein needed to avoid getting sick, not the amount needed for optimal health.

Stress can wreak havoc on your nervous system! B vitamins play an important role in keeping your nervous system healthy. The depletion of B vitamins can cause higher levels of anxiety, depression, sadness and anger. Do something that creates calm and peace of mind like deep breathing exercises, mediation, or journaling. Listen to soothing music, read a book or go for a walk. Treat yourself to a massage, a bath or a relaxing time w friends.

As we each progress through this journey we call life, we often find ourselves at a roadblock or a crossroads which forces us to dig down deep, face our own internal struggles and reinvent ourselves. Sometimes… that just takes time. I have found working on my mental and physical health, especially most recently l, that there is always something we can improve on to become a better person- for both yourself and in relationships. My intention is to share some of those things with you in hopes that it will not only help you along your journey, but help me to continue to move forward to get Mind Body and Balance back up and running in a new and different way! As we move from Spring- a time of renewal, into Summer- a time of growth, I hope you will all join me on this part of the journey as I look forward to supporting you and sharing knowledge that will help you live a more fulfilled life. I’m trying to find a balance with this, I will be approaching things one step at a time sharing periodic pictures, links, articles and recipes and eventually leading into Mind Body and Balance being back up and running again. I am super excited about getting back into what I am most passionate about and thank you in advance for your support!
