Pharmacist Michael Johnston
from Pleasant Garden Drug and Andrea Blevins, ANP-C from Pleasant Garden Family Practice teamed up with a hand full of healthcare professionals, retired members of the special forces and retired military personnel from the Triad area to provide rescue and relief efforts after Hurricane Helene devastated WNC. The team, affectionately referring to themselves as “The Medical Misfits”, provided medical care, facilitated supply transport, coordinated helicopter & ATV missions, and established medical clinics in areas of need. The Medical Misfits coordinated and executed missions to Creston, Ridgecrest, Burnsville, Hendersonville, Hot Springs, Marshall, West Asheville, Bat Cave, and Chimney Rock.
The crew was stationed in Black Mountain in coordination with Excel College, Hasten International Medical Ministry, Combat Junk and Savage Roasters.
A big “Thank You” to Michael, Andrea, the entire Medical Misfits team and everyone who continues to volunteer, send donations and pray for our brothers and sisters in WNC ❤️
