Welcome to our special candlelight class dedicated to performing 108 sun salutations to celebrate the Autumn Equinox! This practice is a profound way to honor the sun’s energy and its role in our lives. the number 108 holds spiritual significance across many cultures, symbolizing wholeness and the universe’s interconnectedness. As we flow through each salutation, we synchronize our breath and movement fostering mindfulness and inner peace. This journey not only strengthens our bodies and enhances our flexibility but also deepens our connection to the natural rhythms of the world. Together we will welcome autumn, embracing renewal, growth, and harmony within ourselves and the universe.

This will be a donation based 90-minute class beginning at 12:00pm. Keep yourself hydrated throughout your day. we will move through these at a slow and steady pace. Take breaks as needed. Everyone is welcome!

In Prenatal Yoga, part of the connection comes from the opening sharing circle, where the community shares about their pregnancy: when baby is due, how they are feeling physical and emotionally, what they hope to gain from that days’ practice.

Prenatal Yoga is a perfect way to create options for individuals who currently have a practice to continue physical activity and an excellent way to introduce those new to yoga to a safe way to practice while their baby grows. By creating a connection with the studio where they practice during pregnancy increases the likelihood that they will continue their practice there after baby arrives.

Ashtanga offers series of poses, many of which you have done before. The teacher acts like a coach or guide rather than a leader. The poses are highly modifiable, but there is an “Ashtanga way” that teachers will encourage and have you strive for.

You link steady ujjayi breath with your holds in the pose and with movement in and out of the poses. The first series of Ashtanga is called primary - it begins with 5 Sun Salutation A’s and 5 Sun Salutation B’s.

You then move into the “standing series” part of primary, where you’ve done many of these poses. These include triangles, revolved triangles, side angles, revolved side angles, pyramids, wide-legged forward folds, chairs, and warrior I and II.

You then transition to poses on the ground. You do one side of a pose, then exhale back into a low push-up (chaturanga), then into an up dog, then into a down dog back into your seated posture ready to perform the other side. It’s pretty hard, especially your 13th (or whatever) of the series. As you master each section, you will be given more poses to practice.

Thursday nights are the best class for beginners and seasoned Ashtanga practitioners. It’s designed for beginners to get familiar with the foundational aspects of the practice, focusing on poses, breathing techniques, and structure. Mysore Ashtanga allows students to receive individualized attention.

While in college, I started my yoga practice after a 30-day Bikram yoga trial. I was 21 at the time, but I found myself enjoying the practice. After graduating, I got my first job at UCSF Hospital and worked for a Neuroendocrinologist who treated patients with multiple hormone deficiencies. Throughout the 3 years, I knew I wanted to work directly with people I just didn’t know exactly what. I used the majority of my early 20s to explore different career fields. I then went into tech and recruiting just because it paid well with my last company Google. With an unexpected layoff during COVID, fitness somehow fell onto my lap. I took it as a chance to deepen my practice by taking the 5 am yoga classes at my local studio. I then started cleaning the studio to get a discounted membership.
While I was cleaning one day, the lead instructor asked if I could join yoga sculpt teacher training. I was already a HIIT trainer at the time, so I said sure why not? The following week, I started this new journey, which was the best decision I’ve made in my life so far. Fast forward 3 years, I’ve dedicated my life to yoga and fitness and had the privilege to practice and learn from multiple teachers in the Bay Area, abroad while living in Spain, and most recently with Gabi Walters IHP in Brighton, UK. I received my 200-hour RYT and 50-hour yoga sculpt certification through CorePower Yoga, and am currently a HIIT coach through ACE group fitness. certifications are a piece of paper, but I believe passion for what you do is far more significant. To be able to serve others through yoga and fitness is something I never thought I’d do, but the best things in life happen unexpectedly. I hope I can continue to offer this to my students as long as I can.
