Please take a moment to read about this fundraiser for Kathleen Van Buskirk's fight against cancer on behalf of her family.
Beautiful Kathleen loves her children, grandchildren, husband Rod, doggies, friends and family fiercely. She is a gourmet cook, a loving daughter and active in her local church and community. On March 2, 2021, Kathleen became extremely ill and was admitted to the hospital. An x-ray showed a small intestine complete blockage and a mass. Further scans and biopsy confirmed pancreatic adenocarcinoma.
Pancreatic cancer is rarely diagnosed before it has spread throughout the body. Fortunately, while Kathleen’s tumor has some involvement with the small intestine, it has not spread further which provides a tremendous source of hope. The doctors' initial plan was several cycles of chemotherapy to reduce the tumor and clear major blood vessel involvement, followed by surgery.
Kathleen and her family have faced this fight with courage, determination and humility. There have been many unexpected complications, infections and multiple hospitalizations that delayed treatment and incurred significant medical bills. Rod and Kathleen are small business owners of a chiropractic practice and work hard to serve their community. Unfortunately, insurance limitations and the unexpected costs of treatment and additional hospitalizations are overwhelming the family.
There are no more hours in the day for the family to work to cover these medical costs. The added stress and time away from Kathleen has become very difficult to sustain. The immediate focus needs to be on completing treatment, having quality time as a family and navigating the future.
Kathleen recently recovered from a blood infection that unexpectedly put her in the hospital for yet another week. She is now gearing up to tackle more chemotherapy to shrink the tumor for surgery.
Please support this faithful and kind family with financial support of any amount to help ease their burden. Kathleen and Rod are often the first to offer support to others, yet the last to ask for help themselves.
Thank you so very much for your love, prayers and support.
Together, we can make a tremendous difference! 🙏
