Introducing Circle Tail's newest Facility Dog Intern Class!

These intern teams will work together for five months under the guidance of our Circle Tail staff to prepare these exceptional dogs and their teams for placement in schools throughout our community. We are proud to welcome our largest intern class yet of 13 dogs! Follow along over the next several weeks as we introduce you to these fantastic teams and share more about what it takes for Circle Tail Facility Dogs to officially be approved for placement in their new jobs.

To wrap up International Assistance Dog Week we want to take a moment to thank our donors who help us to provide trained assistance dogs to individuals at no cost to them.

Did you know it costs about $30,000 to fully train and partner assistance dogs with individuals in our community? We also provide lifetime follow up for the team.

With the help of our donors like Pat pictured here with future assistance dog Sabi, Circle Tail can continue to train and place these exceptional dogs to help individuals with disabilities find independence. Watch as Stratton, a Diabetes Alert Dog for his partner Pat, retrieves a juice from the refrigerator.

He is trained to detect low blood sugar levels by pushing Pat's leg with his nose. He will also bring necessary diabetes supplies to Pat like juice, glucose tabs, and blood sugar monitoring devices.

Lochlan the Lab and Rozsa the Poodle are Circle Tail Hearing Assistance Dogs.

They can alert their partners to a variety of household sounds such as doorbells, alarm clocks, telephones, baby cries, and smoke alarms. These dogs are trained to make physical contact and lead their partner to the source of the sound.

Mobility Assistance Service Dogs can provide a variety of help to individuals by learning to retrieve items, open and close doors, turn switches or alarms off, and even get help in an emergency. Dogs like Quinta are dedicated to helping their partners remain independent.
