Congrats to our April yogi of the month: Casey Sroka
Occupation: National Account Executive at Rust-Oleum Corporation
What's your Yoga Story? I started practicing yoga 10 years ago at a few different studios in Illinois. At the time, my husband and I were just beginning a long fertility journey and I loved not only the physical practice but also the grounding and mental health benefits. In July of 2022, I attended my first class at Santosha to support my long-time friend Katie Luburich as she taught her very first class at the studio! I loved everything about that class and the experience at Santosha - from the welcoming environment, to the floors, to the heat, to the lyric wall. I have been attending regularly ever since!
Favorite thing about Santosha? Santosha is a glimmer! I love that I have been able to grow in my practice alongside my sister, many old and new friends, and so many incredible instructors.
Who you admire most? My Mom. She was an OG boss lady - she balanced having a career and being present for her family so well! She is such a loving mom and would do absolutely anything for my sisters and me. She instilled in us that if we work hard and believe in ourselves we can achieve anything. Now that I am a mom myself, I value the little things that I have learned from her and my relationship with her even more.
What is your favorite book/movie of all time and why did it speak to
you so much? I cannot pick just one! I love reading more than watching movies; many books become favorites! Some recent 5 stars - The Women, Hello Beautiful, Book Lovers, The Frozen River, Remarkably Bright Creatures and All The Colors of the Dark.
What's your favorite place of all the places you've travelled? This is hard! But I think I would have to go with Charleston, South Carolina. It's the perfect mix of beach vacation, southern charm and amazing food!
What's something you're looking forward to and why? Enjoying all the phases of life to come with my husband, Mikey and daughter, Ruby! The three of us always find the fun in life and enjoy making memories from both ordinary and extraordinary moments.
