As a new mom, it is completely NORMAL for your breastfeeding newborn to lose weight in the first few days after birth. 🤱 Babies have a lot of output initially - they're peeing, pooping nice thick meconium, but there's not a lot coming in. It can take several days to a week for a breastfeeding mom's milk to come in, so your baby may only be getting a couple teaspoons at a time. This is why your pediatrician usually doesn't recommend supplementing unless your baby has lost more than 10% of their birth weight. So if your baby is down a few ounces at the newborn check, stay calm – it's gonna be okay! 😌

Hey parents! If your toddler's tantrums feel like they've hit an all-time high, you're definitely not alone! These meltdowns can be tough to handle, but understanding what's going on can help a lot. Little ones are navigating big feelings, and sometimes it all becomes too much for them.

During these melt-down moments, try to stay calm and patient. It’s important to validate their feelings while gently guiding them through what they’re experiencing. Establishing a routine can also provide stability and reassurance. Remember, it’s okay to take a breath for yourself too! Keep communication open and look for ways to redirect their energy into positive outlets.

Hang in there, you got this! 🌈✨

Hey everyone! 👋 We often say to parents to feed their little ones "on demand," but how can you really tell when your newborn is hungry? 🤔

Newborns can’t exactly shout, "I’m hungry!" So here are some signs to look for. First, watch for rooting reflexes—this is when they turn their head and open their mouth when something touches their cheek. It's their way of saying it's time to eat!

Another sign is smacking their lips or sucking on their hands. This can mean they’re starting to feel those hunger pangs. If your baby starts fussing or crying, they might already be pretty hungry, so it’s best to act quickly!

Keep in mind that every baby is different, so learning your little one's cues takes time. Be patient, and trust yourself—you’ve got this! 💪

Feeding on demand helps establish a strong bond and satisfies their needs. So pay attention, and let your baby guide you!

Do you know how to differentiate between colds, the flu, and RSV? Here are some helpful clues to keep in mind! 🤒🤧🤗

02/11/2026

Your little one is under the weather (again), and you’re really hoping the doctor will prescribe antibiotics to make them feel better ASAP. However, that might not be the best solution. Antibiotics are not effective against viral infections, which are often the cause of many childhood illnesses. Instead, focusing on rest, hydration, and comfort can be the best way to support their recovery. Remember, patience is key! 🌟💖🤒

It seems like RSV testing is on everyone’s mind lately! But why wouldn’t your doctor test for it if your child has bronchiolitis? 🤔

First off, not all cases of bronchiolitis are caused by RSV. There are other viruses that can lead to the same symptoms, so testing for RSV might not change the treatment plan. Your doctor might focus on managing the symptoms instead.

Another reason is that RSV testing can take some time, and if your little one is having difficulty breathing, immediate treatment is the priority. In these situations, doctors often rely on clinical signs and symptoms to guide their approach.

Also, most kids tend to recover from bronchiolitis without the need for specific testing. If your doctor feels confident in managing the situation based on their assessment, they may skip the test altogether.

Remember, open communication with your doctor is key! If you have concerns about your child's health, don’t hesitate to ask why they’re choosing not to test. Every child is different, and your doctor has your little one’s best interests at heart. ❤️
