Pediatric Allergy Testing!

Allergies are one of the most common pediatric health concerns in the U.S. While symptoms like sneezing or itchy eyes may seem minor, untreated allergies can contribute to asthma, chronic sinus infections, and sleep disruption that affects a child’s overall well-being (and therefore the parent's well being!)
Allergy symptoms often mimic colds or respiratory infections, accurate identification is critical for best treatment and resolution of symptoms.

Common pediatric allergy symptoms include:
Nasal congestion or sneezing
Itchy, watery eyes
Skin reactions such as eczema or hives
Frequent ear or sinus infections
Coughing, wheezing, or shortness of breath
Sleep disturbances from congestion or postnasal drip

Common triggers include pollen, dust mites, pet dander, mold spores, and certain foods.

Early testing and treatment can significantly improve quality of life and help prevent more serious long-term respiratory complications.

Traditionally epinephrine was delivered by a needle-based auto-injector, but now Neffy, a needle-free nasal spray version of epinephrine is easily available! Neffy delivers the same life-saving medicine into the nasal passages where it is rapidly absorbed. Having a needle-free option can help people act fast in an emergency and reduce hesitation that might delay treatment when every minute counts.

Epinephrine is the first-line treatment for anaphylaxis because it quickly reverses the dangerous changes happening to the body during a severe allergic reaction — it constricts blood vessels to raise blood pressure, opens airways so you can breathe, and reduces swelling and hinders the release of allergy-causing chemicals like histamine. When given at the first signs of anaphylaxis, epinephrine can stop the reaction from progressing and buy critical time before emergency care arrives.

Food Allergy Testing Highlight:
Fish and seafood allergies can be serious and sometimes life-threatening, especially because reactions can be unpredictable and severe. Seafood is also a high-risk food for cross-contamination in restaurants and kitchens, meaning exposure can happen even when you don’t order it directly. Fish and shellfish are different allergen groups, so testing can clarify exactly what needs to be avoided (and what may still be safe). Testing removes the guesswork. Knowing your results helps you plan safer meals, dining out, travel, and emergency preparedness with more confidence.

How do Allergy Shots work?
Once we identify the specific triggers of your symptoms through testing, allergy shots introduce your body to allergens in a way that enables your immune system to build antibodies gradually over time. After some time on shots the body's histamine cascade is greatly reduced, making symptoms a mere memory. This takes 6 months for most folks, and full treatment is 3 years so that the benefit stays with you for decades. When you support your immune system at this deep level, over the counter medications commonly become unnecessary, even in your historically hardest seasons for symptom flare ups.
If your ready to invest in your long term health, ditch some OTC medications, and enjoy life fully in all seasons - call Jenna!
