Every Wednesday of the month, our community is filled with a culinary spirit thanks to our Chef’s Table Series.

Cooking together is an activity that promotes purpose, joy, and meaningful connection. Residents are invited to explore familiar flavors, participate in food preparation, and build new culinary skills in a supportive and welcoming setting.

Last week we made Garlic Salt, a feast for all the senses but also gloriously tactile. Shared experience encourages social interaction, uplifts mood, and supports overall well-being as residents take part in making and enjoying food together. We love this series and are excited to host it every month!

We’re very excited to announce an upcoming event. Next Thursday on April 30th at 10am, horses will be coming to Pleasanton!

Not just any horses, but the well-trained professionals of the mounted police. The East Bay Regional Park District Mounted Police with the Livermore Mounted Police will be bringing their equine colleagues to meet our residents.

We are so thankful to Susan, the daughter of one of our resident’s, who is part of the Livermore Mounted Police for helping to organize this event.

A few weeks ago, we had the pleasure of a being visited by a volunteer, Lori, for some afternoon painting. Lori is the daughter-in-law of a former resident. Although her father-in-law passed away over three years ago, Lori continues to generously volunteer, and we feel so lucky to have her as part of our community!

Lots of phrases come to mind about our 80s themed gala…tubular, radical, bodacious, fly! We’ll just say we had a great time dressing up and listening to some live throwbacks. Events like our 80s night are not just fun, but particularly important in Memory Care because of something called “reminiscence therapy.” Revitalizing longstanding memories from a resident’s younger days can make for a good night of fun but also provide deep-rooted comfort. That’s a combination we think is cool beans 🙌

Attending the Virtual Dementia Tour by Bristol Hospice was a valuable experience for our families. It served as an eye-opener for some family members, helping them understand what their loved ones are going through. The experience also fostered appreciation and a broader understanding of the challenges faced by those who care for individuals with dementia.

Thank you, Diane Slabaugh, and Davey Duncan and Laura Adame from Bristol Hospice for providing this unique experience.

We had another cooking demo with Chef Ron. We made gnocchi from scratch! The residents loved the helping and of course got to sample their hard work.
