Edith is a resident of Villa Raffaella , (and the reigning Miss Villa,🤗 2025), she continues to embrace all the blessings that God has graciously given to her! She feels so blest to be living in a faith filled community where she is surrounded by loving and caring nurses, staff, caregivers, and newfound friends! We wish Edith Alessi good health and happiness!
As she celebrates her 101 birthday , she thanks God and often remarks that God blest her with good health, longevity , and truly “A Wonderful Life “!
Edith (Italia) was born on December 20th , 1924 at her family’s home in Camden N.J She is the second oldest of five children born to Vito and Lena Meloni . She has always been grateful that she was raised by loving, faith filled , and hard working Italian Immigrant parents who taught her to love her faith , Italian heritage, and to be proud that she was born in America.
Edith attended Camden High School and after graduation , she worked in the offices of the Campbell Soup Company.
In 1951 , Edith married Angelo Alessi and together they raised 3 daughters. She is a loving and devoted grandmother of 6 grandchildren , and 11 great grandchildren . She is also the loving aunt to devoted nieces and nephews!
Edith has always demonstrated her prayerfulness and attended many Bible studies and Catholic conferences and Retreats . She attended daily Mass and was a Eucharistic Minister at her Parish of St . Stephen’s.
Edith also loved to entertain and cook wonderful meals for her family and friends , and contributed to The Cathedral Kitchen in Camden.
She was an excellent baker who always tried new recipes and everyone enjoyed her cakes and cookies! She always liked to share her baked goods with everyone for any occasion.
Edith has been a lifelong learner who enjoys reading a good book that elevates her mind or watching Masterpiece Theater on PBS . She loves listening to Opera , Broadway Classics , Classical Music , and the beautiful songs of her generation! She always filled her home with the Sounds of Music!
Edith was also grateful that she was able to enjoy a bit of travel with her friends after her retirement from Pennsauken Municipal Township.
