Weekend tip!

Enjoy the amazing benefits of coffee WITH your food! There is science that says that waiting to have your coffee for 90 minutes after waking and pairing it with a meal has tremendous health benefits. One of the main benefits of sipping coffee after a meal is its ability to aid in digestion. Coffee acts as a natural stimulant for our digestive system, helping to speed up the process of breaking down food and moving it through our intestines. This can be especially helpful after a heavy or indulgent meal, as coffee can assist in preventing that dreaded post-meal slump.

Coffee is one of the most highly ranking antioxidants in some people's diets, outranking fruits and veggies.

Add some cinnamon in and ditch the high sugar creamers! Cinnamon has been studied and is shown that it can lower blood glucose, cholesterol and triglycerides.

Thank you for those that have waited patiently for the return of my content. Over the last month I have been undertaking a change both in name and business stature.

We are now known as Purposeful Health PMA- private member association. I will go into depth on WHY every practitioner, certified health and wellness coach, doctor of natural medicine etc.. should become a private member association!

In the highs and lows of life this verse always comes back to me.
"The Lord will fight for you, you need only to be still."
Exodus 14:14
Whatever you're running from.
Whatever you're running towards.
Whatever you're fighting against.
Your past does not define your future.
The generational curses that were handed down do not determine the life you can create.
You need only to be still. Your Heavenly father loves you more than you can possibly imagine. He just needs to you to be still, surrendered, patient and purposefully waiting for Him.
I don't know what your season looks like, but I know mine has been a roller coaster of hills and valleys. Yet God has continued to show me He is fighting for me and I continue to see His goodness through the people he places in my daily life & the paths He's directed me down.
I felt like someone else needed this reminder too! My inbox is always open for gut health & more.

When looking at dairy-free milks- avoid anything with CARRAGEENAN, Seed oils, or sucralose, fructose or HFCS. These are all highly inflammatory.

Carageenan- Carrageenan is a common food additive but it may cause digestive side effects.

Products with carrageenan may be labeled as ā€œnatural,ā€ but limited studies show that carrageenan may promote or cause:

inflammation
bloating
upset stomach
diarrhea
glucose intolerance
colon issues
food allergies

Common sources of carrageenan
chocolate milk
cottage cheese
cream
ice cream
almond milk
diary alternatives, such as vegan cheeses or nondairy desserts
coconut milk
creamers
h**p milk
rice milk
soy milk
deli meats

Note: anything in small amounts is relatively harmless. However, when used for a long duration, your body has the potential to hold onto until it reaches toxic levels.

Carageenan and seed oils are ingredients I encourage my clients already dealing with GI upset to stear clear of.

Do you eat all of the right things with minimal results in energy, weight loss or even feeling better?

That was me too before understanding my gut microbiome.

The year I left my job at the hospital to be home full time, I dove hardcore into nutrition. I was doing all of the right things and had great results... but slowly the issues with my skin, sluggish digestion, and low energy started to creep up.

When I studied for my certification with integrative nutrition, emphasis on gut health, I had the key to unlocking so many of my problems and the problems that I knew women around were also struggling with.

GUT HEALTH.

It wasn’t until I put the time and effort into fixing my digestion & restoring my microbiome that I started to see results.

This is because if digestion is compromised in any way (e.g. sluggish pancreas, low stomach acid, over-burdened liver) or we have an imbalance going on in the Gut, we won’t actually be absorbing a lot of the nutrients from our food. šŸ’”

Meaning šŸ‘‰šŸ¼ you can eat the healthiest diet on the planet but still end up feeling crappy.

Here are a few clues that may indicate poor nutrient absorption:

> loose stools or frequent diarrhea
> chronic fatigue or low energy
> muscle weakness
> dry skin, brittle hair, weak/peeling nails
> seeing undigested food in your stools
> bloating + gas
> steatorrhea (fatty stools)

If you are eating well but still aren’t feeling your best, it may be time to dig deeper!

You are holding a cup of coffee when someone comes along and bumps into you or shakes your arm, making you spill your coffee everywhere.
Why did you spill the coffee?

"Because someone bumped into me!!"

Wrong answer.

You spilled the coffee because there was coffee in your cup.
Had there been tea in the cup, you would have spilled tea.
Whatever is inside the cup is what will spill out.

Therefore, when life comes along and shakes you (which WILL happen), whatever is inside you will come out. It's easy to fake it, until you get rattled.

So we have to ask ourselves...ā€œwhat's in my cup?"
When life gets tough, what spills over?
Joy, gratefulness, peace and humility?
Anger, bitterness, harsh words and reactions?

Life provides the cup, YOU choose how to fill it.

Today, let's work towards filling our cups with gratitude, forgiveness, joy, words of affirmation; and kindness, gentleness and love for others -author unknown.
