Good morning everyone. After a great weekend of our Eagles proving they are the best team in the NFL yet again, we begin our work week. Here is your tip of the week before the holidays get underway. Family and friend coming over, in and out of the house, entertaining everyone which means...lots of cooking!!! With holiday dinners that means a lot of stuff going down the kitchen drain. This is one of the busiest times of the year for blocked drains. Here are a few helpful tips that may prevent you from having to call your favorite plumber. If you do not have a garbage disposal, nothing should be going down your drain other than water and soap.
Whenever possible, scrape food items off into the trash cans. Even if you have a disposal, most times they are not ready to handle the hoards of family you have over and all the food left on their plates. If you do put stuff down the disposal, make sure it is done in moderation. Run water while grinding everything up and leave it run for a few seconds after. Don't jam the disposal with potato peels or brussle sprouts. Coffee grounds are not good in your drains along with anything that expands or hardens when it gets wet. If your garbage disposal is over 10 years old.....be kind to her. Us old things don't do well when forced. Take these few precautions and you will be able to get through the big meal without having to call someone to clear your drain. Hope this helps.
