Sunir Garg, MD, commented on a recent study that found GLP-1 drugs could double the risk of severe eye disease in older adults with diabetes.

A recent study found that older adults with diabetes who use a GLP-1 drug have double the risk of developing wet age-related macular degeneration compared to those who don't use the drugs.

On Saturday, April 26th, Wills, in partnership with Mid Atlantic Retina, held its 4th annual Wills Eye On Diabetes Day. First held in Fall 2022, this event has grown to include Temple and Scheie Eye in the last two years as we work to raise awareness of diabetic eye disease in the Philadelphia area. Over 100 registrants had their vision evaluated and received relevant diabetic medical information, and counseling about obtaining medical coverage.
