Health Educator, Teara McNeill, attended advocacy day in Raleigh this week to advocate the need for legislators to establish the To***co 21 law.

To***co 21 is a legislative approach to raise the minimum age from 18 to 21, which became federal standard in December 2019. North Carolina has yet to align state law with federal law.

The law is designed to establish a to***co sales permit, strengthen enforcement with the help of ALE, the Alcohol Law Enforcement. The legislation will also set Class 2 misdemeanor legal penalties for selling or assisting in selling to***co to anyone under 21.

In addition, you may hear the bill called Solly’s Law. The bill is named in honor of Solomon "Solly" Wynn, a 15-year-old North Carolina high school athlete who passed away in 2023 from complications related to va**ng.

Pictured from left to right is Charlene Zorn (Solomon’s stepmother), Representative Gloristine Brown from District 8, and Teara McNeill.

Safe Kids had such a great time at the Special Olympics in Williamston today!

Our hot car temperature display showed just how dangerous it can be. By the end of the day, the outside temperature was 88.7°, but inside the truck it reached a dangerous 111°F. This is a reminder to always check your back seat and never leave a child alone in a vehicle, even for a minute.

Start the conversation early—your voice matters. Talking to your child about va**ng can help them make healthier choices and resist peer pressure.

Keep it honest, listen without judgment, and stay involved.

Inicia la conversación cuanto antes: tu voz importa.

Yesterday, some of our staff showed up in their pajamas for the first annual PJs for Safe Sleep Day!

This fun event was all about raising awareness of infant safe sleep and the importance of creating safe sleep environments for our littlest community members.

Not everyone is pictured, but we appreciate all who participated and helped spread this important message! 💙
