Let’s talk about what’s really happening in the Cold Water Plunge.

It isn’t about You vs The Cold. Honest. I know it feels that way, but there is something so much more important happening.

I invite you to look at it as You vs. You’re Nervous System.

We all have Stuff we’re dealing with. From life stresses and traumas to medical diagnoses like depression, anxiety, ADHD, Autism Spectrum, Bipolar… all of the above.

Each person’s Nervous System is operating at a level that is very specific to you. When challenged, we face Fight or Flight.

Walking into freezing cold water IMMEDIATELY induces your Fight or Flight response. In that moment, your mind is telling you to get out because this is bad, or this is too hard, or I can’t do this - I need to RUN.

I PROMISE YOU you will not die from putting your feet in cold water. If that’s all you can do, GREAT!

But while you are doing it, I want you to consider going inside your thoughts and beliefs that tell you “I CAN’T DO THIS!” and challenge. Set a 30 second goal and breathe into it. Walk in further if you can.

Today the water was COLD and I tried a swim shirt to see if it made it better or worse. Don’t recommend it. At all.

My mind was all over the place. The trauma of moving, the responsibilities I’m taking on, work being so busy and doubting my ability to keep up with it all…

But I stopped the BZZZZ in my head and took it to my breath. I thought of the words of my Mentor asking what am doing FOR MYSELF to get Grounded, Centered and Focused.

I’m doing this. I’m taking control of my fight or flight response that I allow to tell me I can’t do something.

I can do hard things. Especially the hard things I have been avoiding for myself.

Join me Saturday morning. We’ll get there around 7:45am and start walking in at 8am.
