The snow looks like a postcard, but cleaning it up is a workout you might not have trained for!
❄️💪
Before you grab that shovel and head out today, keep these safety tips in mind to protect your back—and your heart:
Warm Up First:
Treat shoveling like a gym session. Do some light stretching before you start to get your blood flowing.
Listen to Your Heart:
Cold air constricts blood vessels, which can put extra strain on your heart. If you feel chest pain, shortness of breath, or dizziness, stop immediately.
Lift with Your Legs:
Never bend at the waist. Keep your back straight, knees bent, and push the snow rather than lifting it whenever possible.
Take Frequent Breaks:
Don’t try to clear the whole driveway in one go. Work for 15 minutes, then head inside to warm up.
Stay Hydrated:
You sweat more than you realize in the cold! Drink plenty of water before and after.
🚨 Safety First:
If you or someone you’re with experiences symptoms of a heart attack or any other medical emergency, call 911 immediately.
Stay safe, stay warm, and take it slow out there!
