Hello! My name is Halli Carbrey, and I am so pleased that you’re here, on this exact page, reading our bios, today. Searching for a therapist means that you’ve already taken many brave steps, and I commend you for that. The decision to pursue counseling can be one of the most impactful choices you make in your life, and I am humbled and grateful to walk alongside you on your journey toward wholeness and healing.
I have three main areas of practice: Firstly, I work with couples who are struggling in their relationships. I have experience working with couples through recovery from infidelity, navigating mental health challenges with one or both partners, communication problems, struggles related to infertility, miscarriage, and other loss. A significant focus of my work with couples seeks to understand the impact of childhood imprints on our abilities to give and receive love, and I utilize a program called “How We Love,” by Milan and Kay Yerkovich toward this end. I have also completed the Gottman Institute’s Level 1 & 2 certifications for couples therapy. Secondly, in addition to general couples therapy, I work with individuals and couples who are experiencing struggles in the realm of s*x and intimacy. In 2018, I obtained a certificate in Diagnosing and Treating S*x Issues in Psychotherapy, from the Institute for Relational Intimacy, by Martha Kauppi. I enjoy this work immensely, as it provides a safe, comfortable, non-judgemental space for my clients to discuss a complex topic. I also work with parents or parents-to-be who are struggling: parents struggling in the prenatal or postpartum periods, first-time parents, parents who have experienced infertility and/or loss, parents navigating fostering and/or adoption; parents struggling with a wide-range of difficulties. This work is close to my heart, as I am a mother of three.
I earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Buffalo State College in 2012, and a Master of Arts in Clinical Psychology from Moody Theological Seminary, in 2016.
