Protecting Your Energy While Traveling ✈️
I've been thinking about how challenging it can be to maintain our energetic balance when we're traveling, especially during busy summer months. Between crowded airports, overwhelming tourist spots, and all the different energies we encounter, it's so easy to come home feeling more drained than when we left.
Your energy is sacred, and you have every right to protect it - even when you're exploring new places and having adventures.
Why This Matters
When we travel, we're essentially walking through energy fields of hundreds or thousands of people - stressed travelers, overwhelmed families, anxious flyers. Without some form of protection, we can unconsciously absorb emotions and energy that isn't ours. Instead of feeling refreshed from our trip, we end up exhausted and needing a vacation from our vacation.
Simple Energy Check-In (takes 2 minutes)
Before you walk into any crowded or chaotic space, pause and try this:
🌺 Place one hand on your heart and one on your stomach. Take three deep breaths and honestly ask yourself: "How am I feeling right now?"
🌺Notice your energy level, your mood, any tension or lightness in your body. This is your baseline.
🌺 If feeling balanced, set a gentle intention: "I want to remember this feeling so I can return to it."
This simple practice creates awareness. When you can recognize your own energy, you'll notice when it starts to shift because of external influences. Below are two simple exercises to help strengthen your energetic boundaries and to ground yourself if you are feeling anxious or unbalanced.
Creating Your Protective Boundary (3 minutes)
This is one of my go-to techniques when I need to strengthen my energetic protection:
🍄 Close your eyes and imagine a warm, golden light starting to glow in your heart. This isn't just visualization - you're actually working with your own energy field.
🍄 Let that light expand until it completely surrounds you in a protective bubble, extending about arm's length in every direction.
🍄 As you hold this image, set a clear intention: "This light allows love and positive energy to reach me while gently deflecting anything that doesn't serve my highest good."
🍄 Take a moment to reinforce this boundary by saying to yourself: "I am protected, I am grounded, and I choose what energy I allow into my space."
Quick Grounding When Anxiety Hits (2 minutes)
Sometimes when we're traveling, anxiety or overwhelm can pull us completely out of our bodies and into our heads. When that happens, try this simple grounding technique:
☀️ Start with your breath - take three slow, deep breaths, making your exhale longer than your inhale.
☀️ Then engage your senses: Look around and name 5 things you can see, 4 things you can hear, 3 things you can touch, 2 things you can smell, and 1 thing you can taste.
☀️Finally, press your feet firmly into the ground (even if you're sitting) and imagine roots growing from your feet deep into the earth. Feel yourself being held and supported.
This brings you back into your body and into the present moment, which is where your power lives.
A Few Things That Help Me
✨I always carry something small that helps me feel grounded - sometimes it's a piece of jewelry like a necklace or bracelet, sometimes I put crystals in my pockets. Having something tangible to touch reminds me of my own energy. (You can get awesome crystals locally at New Awakenings Crystal & Wellness Shoppe in Kingston, Ma.)
✨Bathroom breaks become mini-retreats. I use those moments to check in with myself and reset if needed.
✨At the end of each travel day, I take a few minutes to release any energy I might have picked up. I visualize it flowing down through my feet into the earth, where it can be transmuted back to love.
Remember: protecting your energy isn't selfish - it's necessary. When we take care of our own energetic well-being, we can show up more fully for the experiences and people that matter to us.
I hope this helps you maintain your center while exploring the world. Travel can be such a beautiful opportunity for growth and connection when we approach it with awareness and intention.
Safe travels, friends 💙 - Taylor
