Yesterday, I met with an attorney. Not for business. But she asked about my business. This high end, woman attorney referred to my work as a “gig” job.
At 20 I went to school for a year to study massage therapy. At 22, I traveled across the US to learn myofascial work for the next three years, eventually teaching and assisting. At 25 I studied Biosync for one year. I learned Craino-sacral, essential oil therapy with Young Living and more. I have seen clients from London, Mexico, etc referred to me by doctors. Lately, I was blessed to be flown out especially to do therapy at a mountain retreat for women.
It hurt my ego tbh, to hear my 30 + years of experience be referred to as a “gig”. But I hold in my heart the smiles and gratitude of people I have been fortunate to help: The words from those I’ve treated, who felt lasting relief. This is not a “gig”. This an art form that requires skill and listening on different levels. Being present and trustful.
I am grateful to be in that field .t
