Plymouth Podiatry was founded over 30 years ago, when Dr. Worthman created a truly caring atmosphere within the practice, as well as a family. His patients were his number one priority as he went above and beyond to make them feel comfortable in every way. Dr. Smith and Dr. Skonieczny hope to continue the caring atmosphere that Dr. Worthman created for Plymouth Podiatry where we make each patient

our main focus and go above and beyond to treat every patient’s concern as quickly and care free for them as possible.

“Bauer Bumps” is a condition often seen in younger hockey players, it is a version of Haglund’s Syndrome or “pump bump” seen in adults. This occurs when the heel bone where the Achilles tendon attaches grows and causes inflammation and bursitis in response to stress. Although there are several reason to happen, tight hockey skates are usually the main culprit. There are several places in Massachusetts, where you can buy skates and have them measured and molded to your child’s foot hockey skates should be checked for size, at least twice a year in a growing child.

Hammer toes are painful toe deformities in which the toes are stuck in a bent position. They are often the result of wearing tight shoes or high heels. Although there are several pads and straps on the market claiming to cure hammer toes, once the hammer toe has formed, the only way to straighten the toe permanently is with surgery whichis usually necessary in cases of extreme pain and formation of wounds from the toe rubbing on shoes . The good news is most of the time, hammer toes are not painful. If you have mild discomfort from a hammertoe or a callus that might form from the hammertoe, they can be treated with padding and removal of the callus.

With our first official snowfall of the season happening tomorrow it’s a good time to check your closet and make sure that the tread on your shoes has not worn down. Worn down tread can put you at risk for slip and falls outside on snow and ice causing bumps bruises and even fractures.
