Top 5 Exercises for Low Back Pain Relief…and why staying still is the worst thing you can do.
Low back pain can be stubborn—but motion is your magic. Movement increases blood flow, reduces stiffness, and helps your brain stop over-firing pain signals.
Why Movement Matters:
When you’re in pain, your brain often says “freeze.” But what your back really needs is controlled motion, not stillness.
Avoiding movement can actually delay healing and increase long-term sensitivity.
💡 Motion is lotion.
Let’s teach your body how to move smarter, not just harder.

Call our office to have our PT’s give you an exercise plan and tips to keep you moving!

Did you know you start losing muscle after just ONE week of inactivity?

Yep—your body is efficient… maybe too efficient.
When you stop moving, it starts letting go of the strength it doesn’t think you need.
That includes muscle mass, coordination, and even joint mobility.

But here’s the good news 👉 it doesn’t take hours in the gym to keep it!
Just a few intentional movements each day—walking, bodyweight strength, or guided PT—can protect your muscle, your metabolism, and your momentum.

💪 Motion really is medicine.

So if you’ve been sitting too long or sidelined by pain, let’s change that. Your muscles are ready when you are.

🧠💪 MEN’S WEEK SPOTLIGHT 3: Sexual Health = Whole Health

Your sexual health isn’t just about performance—it’s a window into your overall well-being. Low libido, erectile dysfunction, or hormonal imbalances can be early signs of stress, heart disease, diabetes, or mental health struggles.

💡 Prioritizing sexual health means:
✔️ Checking in on mental wellness
✔️ Managing blood pressure & cholesterol
✔️ Maintaining a healthy weight & active lifestyle
✔️ Talking openly with your doctor

Taking care of all of you starts with understanding that sexual health matters. 💬 Talk about it. Get checked. Stay strong.

🧠💪 Men’s Health Week Day 2— and it’s time we talk about something real: mental health.

Being strong doesn’t mean staying silent.
Checking in with yourself is strength.
Asking for help is courage.

1 in 8 men will experience mental health challenges this year. You’re not alone, and you don’t have to fight it alone. Talk to a mate. Talk to a pro. Talk to someone.

Let’s break the stigma, not our silence.

Men’s Health Week 💪 | Take Charge of Your Physical Health

It’s time to put your well-being first. Your body works hard for you—return the favor by taking care of it. That means:

✅ Regular checkups — even if you feel fine
🏃 Daily movement — whether it’s the gym, a walk, or weekend basketball
🥗 Fueling your body — more whole foods, less processed junk
🛌 Getting enough rest — recovery is just as important as activity
🚫 Cutting back on habits that harm — smoking, excessive drinking, or ignoring symptoms

Men often delay care—don’t be that guy. Strong isn’t silent. Strong is smart, proactive, and preventive. 💙

According to the Health Service Research Journal, patients who sought physical therapy for their lower back pain saw an average 72% decrease in costs the first year compared to those who didn’t seek treatment.

Another study by the University of Pittsburgh found that patients who received physical therapy and those who underwent spinal surgery had the same ending recovery levels. However, the physical-therapy patients spent roughly half as much as the patients who had surgery.

03/10/2025

Pelvic floor physical therapy can be an effective treatment for individuals experiencing an overactive bladder (OAB). Here are several ways it can help:

1. Strengthening Pelvic Floor Muscles: A pelvic floor physical therapist can guide patients in exercises that strengthen the pelvic floor muscles. Stronger muscles can better support the bladder and urethra, helping to control urinary urges and improve bladder function.

2. Improving Muscle Coordination: OAB can be associated with issues of muscle coordination. Physical therapists can help patients learn to relax and contract their pelvic floor muscles properly, which can improve bladder control.

3. Biofeedback Techniques: Therapists may use biofeedback to help patients become more aware of their pelvic floor muscle activity. This feedback can assist in retraining the muscles and improving coordination, leading to better bladder control.

4. Behavioral Techniques: Physical therapists can provide guidance on bladder training and urge control strategies. This might include techniques to delay urination and gradually increase the time between bathroom visits.

5. Education on Lifestyle Modifications: A pelvic floor physical therapist can educate patients about dietary and lifestyle changes that may alleviate symptoms of OAB, such as avoiding bladder irritants (like caffeine and alcohol) and implementing fluid management strategies.

6. Addressing Posture and Body Mechanics: Poor posture or body mechanics can affect pelvic floor function. A therapist can assess posture and body mechanics and provide interventions.

If you’re considering this type of therapy, call Meadowland Therapy today!
