Its been some time since I was regularly active on this page and I have noticed a few new followers and with my shift in services, I thought that it was a great time to (re)introduce myself.

Hi, I'm Amillia! Ever since I was a little girl I was so fascinated with pregnancy, birth and breastfeeding which led me to become a doula in 2014. Working with so many new families, I noticed a huge lack of quality breastfeeding support in our area. Since I struggled with breastfeeding my first this hurt my heart and I knew that I wanted to help where I could. At the beginning of 2021 I began my official lactation education to become a Certified Breastfeeding Specialist and also began an internship with WIC. After a year with WIC I decided to start my own practice and pursue training to become an Internationally Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC).

*Private and group prenatal lactation classes to prepare you for a successful start with breastfeeding. ($125, two session workshop).*

*In-home lactation consults where I come to your home. (On a pay what you can basis).*

I have been thinking a lot about where I want to be going and where I have transitioned to in the last few years. Birth is and will always be close to my heart but in this season of my life I’ve decided to steer my path a little.
As many of you know, I finished my lactation education program and am now a Certified Breastfeeding Specialist. I’ve thought long and hard and at this time, I will be doing lactation services primarily. I don’t want to write off doing births or even postpartum doula work entirely but it will no longer be my main focus.
As this transition has been happening and I’ve been daydreaming about what I would like to offer in the future as well as right now, Prana Mama Doula no longer resonated with me. I went down a rabbit hole of finding a new business name that would embody this new journey. Keeping all my daydreams, my personality, interests and my ideal client in mind, I’ve come up with a new name that I think reflects my new endeavors. I am rebranding!

Why Milky Moon? Remember that rabbit hole? I’ll try to keep it simple. So simply put, I love symbolism! In a more detailed explanation, the moon has always been a symbol of the feminine. Ancient Greeks, the Roman’s, the Celts, you name it, La Luna has always been there in the dark night sky with her sparkling femininity! Her lunar monthly cycles are one in the same with not only the woman’s monthly cycles but also symbolize the cycles that each woman goes through in her lifetime. The Maiden 🌒 , the Mother 🌕 and the Crone 🌘.

Hi all! I thought I’d introduce myself to all the new people joining the page! I’m Amillia Mitchell, owner of Prana Mama. I offer services to pregnant and postpartum moms with breastfeeding and childbirth education classes and doula services.
It is my birth philosophy that having the knowledge and support surrounding pregnancy, birth, newborns and breastfeeding facilitates an enjoyable and empowering birth experience. Historically, birth was a time of women and girls joining together to support and witness childbirth and new motherhood. Western Culture had moved away from such practices. I believe the role of a doula is a critical building block to restoring women supporting, educating and empowering other women through the wonderful passage of birth and motherhood.
I have been a doula since 2014 and received training with DONA International. I am currently serving as an Intern at the Pocatello WIC office to gain experience towards receiving my IBCLC (International Board Certified Lactation Consultant). I am the mother to 2 children, one hospital birth and one home-birth. In my free time I like to be outdoors, reading, practicing yoga and spending time with my family.

A professional development and tea kind of day.
In August I got the opportunity to take part in a midwife’s assistant class taught by one of our wonderful local midwives Valerie Hall! I’m excited to be able to support not only birthing moms/families in our communities but also our local midwives.
