February is Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month (TDVAM) 🧡

Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month is a time to raise awareness about relationship abuse among young people, educate our communities, and support teens in building healthy, respectful connections.

What is teen dating violence?:
Teen dating violence includes physical, emotional, verbal, sexual, or digital abuse within a teenage relationship. It can show up as controlling behaviors, insults, monitoring through phones or social media, threats, or physical harm. It affects teens of all backgrounds.

📊 Idaho Stats You Should Know:
• Nearly 16% of Idaho youth surveyed reported experiencing physical or sexual violence. Higher than national averages for some forms of dating and sexual violence.
• In Idaho, female students report significantly higher rates of sexual dating violence than male students.
• Some Idaho teens report being slapped, pushed, or hit by a partner at rates similar to broader national findings.

These statistics reflect reported experiences and the real rates are likely higher, because many teens don’t feel safe reporting abuse.

Why it matters:
Teen dating violence can have lasting effects — including impacts on mental health, school performance, self-esteem, and future relationships. Awareness and early education are key to prevention.

🧡At NHOH, we believe in supporting young people and their loved ones with education, resources, and compassion. By talking openly about healthy versus unhealthy relationships, we help teens make safer choices and support peers who might be struggling.

📌 Signs of healthy relationships:
✔ Mutual respect and trust
✔ Open communication
✔ Personal boundaries are honored

📌 Signs of unhealthy behavior:
⚠ Excessive texting or checking up constantly
⚠ Threats, insults, or pressure
⚠ Isolation from friends or family

You are not alone. If you or someone you know is experiencing dating violence or if you’re just confused about what’s “normal” , help is available.

📞 National Teen Dating Violence Hotline:

Together, through awareness, education, and community support, we can help teens build healthy relationships and break cycles of abuse. 🧡

And last, but certainly not least, our final introduction.....

Spotlight #9

CEO/Founder: Guy Nason

Guy Nason was born and raised in Modesto, California, in 1986. His early life was marked by struggles with addiction that began in high school and continued into adulthood, leading to a cycle of incarceration, cross-country instability, and involvement in drug
trafficking. After moving to Montana to work in the oil fields, his addiction worsened—until one pivotal moment changed the course of his life forever.

On March 16, 2017, facing a 32-year prison sentence in Bannock County, Idaho, Guy was given a final opportunity through Wood Court, a specialty court program. With deep skepticism but nothing left to lose, he accepted the challenge. Through accountability,
structure, and support, Guy not only achieved sobriety but began to rebuild his life with intention and purpose. During this life-changing period, he met the love of his life, Alice Nason. When they learned they were expecting their first child, they
briefly relocated to Montana before settling in Pocatello, Idaho. There, Guy rejoined SME Steel, where he began working as a structural steel fabricator. With five years of hands-on fabrication experience, Guy proved his dedication and skill, earning a leadership position
on the shop floor for one year, where he managed the fabrication process and supervised teams of fabricators. His strong work ethic, determination, and leadership ability led to his promotion as Plant Manager, a role he has now held for five years. In this position, Guy oversees an average of 125 employees and manages complex, high-profile projects including Resorts World in Las Vegas, SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles, and Micron in Boise. SME Steel specializes in fabricating massive structural steel components for professional stadiums, casinos, office buildings, colleges, and microchip plants.

In his role as Plant Manager, Guy’s core responsibilities include:
- Planning and organizing multi-million-dollar projects
- Maintaining tight production schedules
- Enforcing company policies and ensuring OSHA compliance
- Making critical decisions under pressure
- Coordinating all shop activities and overseeing facility operations
- Evaluating, coaching, and supporting employees
- Enforcing productivity and quality goals
- Monitoring all project activities from start to finish to ensure budget compliance
- Maintaining facility standards and operational efficiency

Guy credits SME Steel with giving him the opportunity to rise above his past and prove—to himself and others—that he was capable of achieving great things through hard work and perseverance. Together with Alice, Guy has built a life rooted in family and service. They are proud parents to six children, four biological and two adopted nephews. Their daughter’s mental health struggles opened their eyes to a critical gap in local resources. Faced with the prospect of sending her out of state for care, Guy and Alice made a powerful decision: to stay by her side and create a better solution for families like theirs.

That night, Guy shared his vision for a comprehensive youth center. With Alice’s unwavering support, they brought that vision to life. Nason House of Hope is now a fully recognized nonprofit dedicated to high-risk youth. This all-in-one sanctuary offers CPS support, therapeutic services (including su***de prevention rooms), educational assistance, trade school training, and transitional housing. With a mission rooted in hope, healing, and second chances, the Nasons are committed to helping struggling youth overcome addiction and mental health challenges—just as Guy did—and build a future filled with opportunity.

This biography is accompanied by a comprehensive folder detailing the mission, services, and leadership behind Nason House of Hope, including the inspiring stories and qualifications of its Board of Directors. Together, they are working to create a safe, supportive haven for vulnerable youth and to transform lives throughout their community.

Facilities Director: Alice Nason

Alice Nason is the heart and driving force behind Caring Hearts Assisted Living and the upcoming Nason House of Hope. For Alice, these are far more than facilities—they are homes built on a foundation of love, dignity, compassion, and connection. Her mission is simple yet powerful: to create spaces where people feel seen, valued, and genuinely cared for.

Alice’s journey in caregiving began over eight years ago, fueled by a deep-rooted belief that caring for others is her true calling. Born in California and raised in the close-knit communities of Idaho, she learned the importance of showing up for others, building strong relationships, and fostering a sense of belonging. These values have shaped every aspect of her personal life and leadership approach.

She is a proud mother to six children—four of her own and two nephews whom she was blessed to adopt and raise as her own. Her family is her greatest source of strength and inspiration, reminding her daily of the importance of compassion, resilience, and community.

In May 2020, Alice earned her Administrator License, officially stepping into a leadership role within the assisted living field. About a year and a half ago, she and her husband became the proud owners of Caring Hearts Assisted Living. Their vision extends beyond providing care—they have built a space where every resident is treated with respect, dignity, and love, and where staff operate as an extension of the family.

Alice leads with a servant’s heart and has assembled a dedicated team who share her passion for creating a nurturing, home-like environment. Together, they ensure that Caring Hearts lives up to its name every single day.

Driven by that same passion, Alice and her team are developing Nason House of Hope, a safe, supportive facility for struggling youth. More than just a shelter, Nason House of Hope will provide mentorship, resources, and the tools young people need to heal, grow, and create a brighter future. Alice believes every child deserves to feel valued, capable, and hopeful, and Nason House of Hope will be a place where those beliefs come to life.

Outside of her professional role, Alice enjoys life’s simple pleasures—camping, fishing, concerts, and scenic drives through the mountains with her husband of seven years and their children. These moments of peace and joy fuel her commitment to helping others experience the same sense of belonging and hope.

Whether serving the elderly, mentoring youth, or building community connections, Alice remains steadfast in her mission: to lead with heart, cultivate compassion, and create spaces where people can heal, grow, and thrive.

Born into poverty and raised amidst childhood abuse and trauma, Jerry’s early years were marked by hardship and instability. Determined to break the cycle, Jerry chose a different path. Fifteen years ago, he opened his first tattoo shop, pouring his heart, creativity, and relentless work ethic into building a business that exceeded even his own expectations. His shop quickly gained recognition not only for its artistry but as a symbol of transformation and second chances.

So, in recognition, we would like to spotlight those amazing members over the next week for you, the community, to meet! Beginning with.....

Assistant Director of Admissions: Cortney Turnbeaugh

For the last 6 years Cortney has been lucky enough to work in substance abuse and mental health, helping people find their way to healing. This work means a lot to Cortney because she's walked a similar path herself, and has been thankful enough to find recovery and have been sober and thriving for 8 years now. She's super passionate about supporting anyone in recovery. 💙

As a mother to two amazing boys, Cortney especially loves connecting with juveniles and supporting them through their challenges, stating, "I truly believe in their potential, and one day I hope to become a counselor so I can keep making a difference in even more young lives."

When Cortney's not at work, you’ll probably find her out in nature soaking up the fresh air, getting creative with arts and crafts, or just hanging out with the people she love most. Cortney mentions, "Life’s too short not to enjoy the little things! If you’re here because you’re looking for help, hope, or just want to chat about recovery—I’m so glad you’re here. Let’s keep lifting each other up." 🌿✨
