Dear NAHA Members and Regional/International Directors,

I am writing to you personally because you deserve to hear honestly and clearly from your Board of Directors.

It has come to our attention that some of you have received materials circulated publicly by a potential election candidate raising concerns about member voting rights and NAHA’s election procedures. We understand questions like these can be unsettling.

What Our Bylaws Do & Say

NAHA’s Bylaws have always been the governing foundation of our association. They establish authority, direct Board activities, and define member rights. Article 3, Section 2(B)(2)(a) of our Bylaws defines Professional Member eligibility as follows: completion of a minimum 200-hour aromatherapy training program, 4 years of direct experience and education in the theory and practice of aromatherapy, or passing the ARC examination. Article 5, Section 2(C) further specifies that eligible voters are Professional and Business members in good standing who have been current members for two consecutive years prior to the date set for elections. Article 5, Section 5(A) establishes that any candidate for elected office must be a Professional/Business member in good standing with the association for a minimum of two consecutive years. These provisions have been in place throughout NAHA’s history and have been consistently applied.

NAHA’s Level 1, Level 2, and Level 3 membership tiers were introduced in subsequent years as a way to expand access to NAHA and welcome a broader community of aromatherapy students and practitioners into our organization. However, the introduction of tiered membership categories did not amend the eligibility provisions established in Articles 3 and 5 of the Bylaws.

Importantly, Article 3, Section 1(B) states clearly that the Board of Directors holds final authority on issues regarding membership eligibility. The Board has exercised that authority consistently and in good faith.

The claim that the current election materials represent a departure from our Bylaws is, in our Board’s and legal counsel’s judgment, a misreading of those documents. This misinterpretation conflates marketing terminology with the eligibility standards NAHA’s Bylaws establish.

NAHA’s Election History

The circulating materials assert that 2012 represents the last documented election communication from NAHA. The implication that the Board has failed to conduct or communicate subsequent election processes is factually inaccurate. NAHA’s records document election announcements sent to members in 2016, 2018, 2020, 2022, 2024, and 2026.

Our elections have been conducted consistently, communicated to members, and carried out in accordance with our governing documents, including the notice and election procedures outlined in Article 5 of the Bylaws. We stand behind the integrity of each election cycle throughout NAHA’s current Board tenure.

Legal Counsel & Member Engagement

Because some of the statements in the circulating materials are materially inaccurate and harmful to the organization and its leadership, NAHA has engaged legal counsel in connection with this matter.

We want to acknowledge that members can hold differing views about governance, and your Board welcomes that type of thoughtful engagement. What our Board cannot accept is the public presentation of disputed interpretations as established misconduct, particularly when those characterizations cause confusion among members and undermine trust in NAHA’s Board and the election that is actively underway.

Should any member wish to formally propose changes to our Bylaws, Article 8, Section 1 provides a clear and proper process for doing so. A written proposal stating the current wording, the proposed new wording, and the rationale for the change is necessary, followed by a majority vote of both the Board of Directors and the Professional and Business membership, as outlined in Article 8, Sections 1(B) and 1(C).

Current Election

This election matters. It is one of the most direct ways our members participate in shaping the future of NAHA. Our Board is committed to conducting it with integrity, transparency, and fairness for every member.

As a reminder, any eligible member is invited to run for office. Applications are due June 1, 2026, by 11:59 pm MST. NAHA will publish platform statements for each candidate in the order they are received. Click here to access the application:https://naha.org/assets/uploads/NAHAElectionApplication2026Fillable.pdf

If you have questions about your membership status, voting eligibility, or any aspect of the election process, please reach out to us at info@naha.org and we will respond promptly.

NAHA exists because of our members and community. Your dedication, expertise, and shared belief in the value of holistic aromatherapy is the cornerstone of our association. That is what guides every decision this Board makes and is what will carry us forward from here.

It has been my honor to serve as your President! I look forward to welcoming in our new team of leaders in January.

With gratitude and respect for each of you,

Annette Davis
NAHA President

Public Relations Officer Statement
(Term 2027-2028)

Nominated by a NAHA Past President and current PR Officer, Kelly Holland Azzaro.

Hi, I’m Jennifer Pressimone, Current Central Florida NAHA Director and Vice President, and I am running for the Public Relations position for the 2027-28 term. Having been actively involved with NAHA since I became a member in 2003, I bring a wealth of experience, education, and insight to this role.

As Vice President (2015-2026), I’ve built strong connections within our community, fostering partnerships with members and organizations, expanded community outreach and membership nationally, and globally, as well as strengthened sustainability and conservation efforts. If you’ve attended conferences between 2014 – 2025, you’ll know me as the Beyond Aromatics conference emcee, a role I love. Helping our members and conference attendees feel welcomed, valued and loved is a gift I’m honored to share.

My personal journey into aromatherapy ended up being a life saving measure. I can’t say that I found aromatherapy, but I am forever grateful that aromatherapy found me, at a crucial time in my life. Given 6-months to live, I was introduced to essential oils, herbs, flower essences, homeopathy, and other holistic modalities. I learned from various experts over the years how to clinically assess health challenges and translate them into health enriching protocols.

In helping myself heal, I found my true calling and purpose, starting my aromatherapy business, JennScents, in 2002. This was one of the very first Aromatherapy Custom Blending Bars in the world. I also traveled to Asia and Europe to help wellness spas do the same. To meet the huge need for holistic education, I started the JennScents Institute in 2003, now the Aromaversity. Since then, thousands of students have graduated as Level 1, 2, 3 and 4 Certified Aromatherapists and Holistic Gut Specialists.

My professional roots are deep as a clinical practitioner, educator, formulator, business mentor. My strength is leading with resilience and strategy to pave the way when needed. I demonstrated this most prevalently in my VP term, when I assisted the NAHA President in navigating members and Directors during the 2020 pandemic, times of war, and economic challenges. We proved that NAHA does, indeed, have strong roots to help maintain organizational stability while embracing opportunities for growth and service.

As a 24-year industry veteran, I am most proud of receiving NAHA’s 2023 Lifetime Leadership Award.

My experience has taught me how to shift, pivot, and adapt during good times and bad. Qualities which are important for the PR position. Additionally, I have strong media outreach experience, being featured in New York Times, Vogue Business, Forbes, Women’s World, and other publications. I have also been interviewed on various podcasts and have been pivotal in helping shine a light on NAHA, our benefits, and accomplishments.

My Vision & Goals for NAHA
I believe that as an organization of natural health enthusiasts and experts, we are stronger together as a unified collective. It will be my honor to continue building relationships and strengthening bridges within the community and expand outreach into complementary trades for industry growth.

As Public Relations Officer, my goals are:
* Authentic & Transparent Communication: Implementing a strategy that provides regular updates to members, ensuring no one feels left behind as we grow globally. Additionally, through outreach campaigns, I’ll help to improve public awareness about safe and ethical aromatherapy practices, both personally and professionally
* Elevating the NAHA Brand: Utilizing my expertise in strategy to position NAHA as the primary authority in aromatic education for media outlets, aromatherapy advocates, and wellness businesses. I’ll help do this by bringing more awareness to education, sustainability, research, and the great work that our members are doing.
* Fostering United Partnerships: Building collaborative bridges with medical and holistic organizations to create a unified voice for safe, ethical, and clinical aromatherapy practices.
* Member Advocacy: Creating new platforms for member visibility, ensuring the incredible work of our individual aromatherapists is highlighted to the public and potential clients.
* Raising Event Awareness: Promoting NAHA related projects and events including the bi-annual conference which accommodates a global gathering of beginners to experts.

Key Qualifications & Advocacy Strengths
* Proven Leadership: The roles of NAHA Current NAHA VP (since 2014) & Central Florida Regional Director since 2005 have provided me with a deep understanding of the organization's history and its future potential. During my tenure, I’ve helped strengthen member and community relations, education standards, research, sustainability efforts, and event growth. I am a Level 3 NAHA Certified Clinical Aromatherapist.
* Strategic Bridge-Builder: Expert at creating alliances between NAHA, healthcare professionals, and the media to elevate the awareness of holistic aromatherapy. My unique problem-solving experience has helped strengthen NAHA’s outreach communications when addressing delicate and sensitive matters (i.e., inquiries & complaints) that build relationships and deepens understanding.
* Education & Psychological Insight: Leveraging my B.A. degree in psychology, Diploma in Spiritual Phyto-Essencing (Dr. Bruce Berkowsky), and numerous natural health certifications, I’ll ensure communications are emotionally resonant, grounded, and effectively modernize public misconceptions about aromatherapy. As a clinical aromatherapist and holistic health educator, I’ve spent my career decoding the link between psychology and neuroscience. This unique background helps me to communicate complex holistic concepts with clarity, empathy, and professional authority.
* Community Outreach Experience: Helping VA Medical Centers establish aromatherapy clinics nationwide, integrating safe holistic aromatherapy practices into hospitals and hospice.
* Product Formulator: Understanding member needs related to product development from start to finish for self and large corporations.
* Published Authority: Author of the JennScents Holistic Aromatherapy Comprehensive Guide, Aromatherapy Guide for Pets, and other publications
* Business Founder and Lead Instructor of JennScents, Inc. and Aromaversity. since 2002: Holistic clinical practice, products, school, consultancy, motivational speaker specializing in personalized wellness plans.
* Co-founder of the Aroma Paths Podcast: With Sharon Chapman, educating the general public on the many safe and effective ways to use aromatherapy.

Conference Availability
As a conference attendee of the NAHA Biennial Conference since 2004, I am committed and available to continue attending this important event.

Volunteer Availability
Having dedicated many hours above and beyond the requirements of my current volunteer role within NAHA, I confirm that I am available to dedicate approximately 10 hours per week to the role of Public Relations.

My Commitment to Service
I am committed to supporting the awareness, integrity, growth, and evolution of NAHA. Through service, collaboration, education, partnerships, and compassionate leadership, I will serve NAHA to the best of my ability.
As I step away from the role of Vice President, I would be honored to continue as Public Relations Officer to support the incoming Board of Directors in strengthening and fulfilling NAHA’s mission.
