Idaho State University (ISU), is hosting a campus-wide fundraising initiative—Bengal Giving Day! This is an opportunity for student organizations, faculty, and the community to come together in support of meaningful causes.

As Audiology students and members of the Student Academy of Audiology (SAA) Chapter at ISU, we understand that access to language is crucial for a child’s development. This year, we are dedicated to helping children access hearing aids if they choose, regardless of financial circumstances, by raising funds to support those in need.

Your donation will go directly toward providing hearing aids for children who otherwise couldn’t afford them. Every contribution, big or small, makes a meaningful impact!

We are so proud of all our graduates!

Where are you originally from? Miles City, MT
Where will you be working after graduation? My dad is an audiologist in Montana and I will be working for him in his office in Billings. I will primarily work with adults (diagnostics and hearing aids), but I will also work with pediatrics. I plan to initiate a cochlear implant program, which I’m extremely excited about!

What do you look forward to most after graduation? I’m looking forward to living closer to family and to being able to work alongside my dad. I enjoy all aspects of audiology, but I am especially excited about being able to provide cochlear implant services. Also, my wife and I are about to close on our first house - our two golden retrievers are going to love our new yard!

Favorite graduate school memory: There are many but I’ll write about two: 1. Getting to help perform ABR testing on puppies as my capstone project. So fun!!!! 2. When my class was learning to take ear impressions, we sorted the impressions of each student’s ears from smallest to biggest. Mine were the smallest. When we showed Nancy, she picked my ear impressions up and excitedly commented on the little baby ear impressions 😂

Advice to current Audiology Bengals: Graduate school can be overwhelming and stressful. I think the most helpful realization for me was understanding that my time in graduate school would pass quickly and that I would one day miss all of the fun and exciting parts - making great friends, meeting wonderful people (teachers, patients, supervisors, etc), and learning new things every day. Deep breaths and enjoy the process. :)

Take in all the experiences you can. Grad school is tough and adding in extra work may seem like too much, but you will learn so much and can carry that experience with you.
