This week, we’re proud to spotlight Allie Lyons, a Certified Medical Assistant in our General Surgery office!

With 11 years of experience in health care, Allie began her journey as a Certified Nursing Assistant before returning to school to earn her Medical Assistant certification. Today, she plays a vital role in supporting Dr. Hefty and Karen, the clinic nurse. From preparing patients for surgical consults and obtaining medical records to assisting with minor in-office procedures and coordinating follow-up care, Allie ensures every detail is handled with care.

Allie’s favorite part of her role? Working alongside Dr. Hefty and Karen and building meaningful connections with her patients. Her commitment to serving with the greatest care and love is evident in the way she approaches each day—with compassion, empathy, and a willingness to go the extra mile to ensure her patients are comfortable.

Fun fact: Allie loves to make homemade dog treats!

The OSF Saint Katharine Foot and Ankle Residency Program made a powerful impact at this year’s American Podiatric Medical Association (APMA) National Conference in Dallas! 👏 Five research posters were presented by our talented residents, showcasing innovation and dedication in podiatric medicine.

We're especially proud of the collaborative work by Dr. Dhruv Patel, Dr. Roshni Patel, and program graduate Dr. Beth Richardson, which earned 2nd place among hundreds of submissions nationwide! 🥈 Their research explored a rare case of septic arthritis linked to a bacterium often associated with colorectal cancer—an important contribution to clinical awareness and medical literature.
