As we look out over 4 inches of snow, just 72 hours before the spring Equinox, we are reminded that change is inevitable and life is unpredictable. With this, we want to keep our Yoga on the River family in the loop about an upcoming change. Yes, the location of the work we do out of The Nook is changing, but our community presence is not. We have so much support and really rad offerings in the works for our 4th season of Yoga on the River. Please stop in the shop by the end of April to get some of the best goodies around, and certainly come see us in our new locations. Summer will be here before we know it! Can't wait to practice with you all!

The Adventure Continues…

Ten years ago this May, we met and made a quiet commitment to one another:

that we were going to live this life fully.

That meant saying yes to the adventure.

Yes to creativity.

Yes to the unexpected twists and turns that life inevitably brings.

Well… the universe clearly heard us. 😄

Just a couple months after expanding our shop, we recently learned that our building will be put on the market to be sold, which means it’s time for a new chapter for The Nook and our practices.

As we’ve started sharing the news with our clients, some people have said things like, “I’m sorry… that stinks. What a bummer.”

But honestly?

That’s not how we see it at all.

Ten years ago we committed to living life as an adventure, and part of that means trusting the turns in the road. We’ve come to see moments like this not as something going wrong, but as an invitation. A shift. A blessing.

And we’re here for it.

Some beautiful things are already unfolding.

Michelle's integrative therapy practice will be moving just two blocks away to a new office above Gallery 14 on Court Street, where we get to help design a really special space. Devan and Michelle are already dreaming up therapeutic art workshops and creative collaborations, and we’re excited to see what grows there.

Michael will continue his massage practice at our community healing center near Eastern High School, which is a larger and beautiful space dedicated to healing work.

And perhaps most exciting of all…

We will be expanding the work we do together on our family farmland, welcoming people into deeper healing experiences at our home and healing center. This land has been in Michelle's family for five generations, and it feels incredibly meaningful to begin opening it more intentionally as a place of restoration and connection.

Michael brings extensive training in shamanic medicine, and both of us have spent many years studying and practicing earth-based healing traditions. Being able to work on the land allows us to weave those practices in more fully - connecting body, psyche, spirit, and place.

We’re dreaming up some beautiful offerings there, including eco-psychology offerings, overnight nature solos/quests, four-handed massage, and couples massage, along with seasonal gatherings and healing experiences on the land.

The shop itself will be closing as a public storefront, but some of our favorite items will still be available through a tiny shop in my new office, along with private shopping experiences and fun pop-ups we’re dreaming up. We will be liquidating our inventory, through April, so stay connected for shop hours and upcoming sales.

Meanwhile, we’re excited to still be part of the energy downtown - especially with the new fountains on Court Street and the incredible revitalization happening in Pomeroy.

And most of all, we feel deeply grateful.

A huge thank you to Kevin Morgan of River Siren, our landlord and an incredibly talented local artist. Kevin has been so supportive during our time in the space, and we are truly grateful for the past 2 1/2 years we’ve had there. That building held so much creativity, growth, and community for us.

Life keeps reminding us that when one door shifts, another one opens wider.

Same heart.
Same work.
New spaces.
More adventure.

We can’t wait to share what comes next.
— Michelle & Michael

Cabin Fever Fest Special
The Nook Presents: The Clairaudience Project

🗓 Saturday, March 7
🕜 1:30 PM – Ceremonial cacao + grounding meditation
🕑 1:45 PM – Performance begins
📍 Michael Douglas Event Space(a couple doors down from the Nook, where My Best Friend’s Closet used to be) Pomeroy, Ohio

What Asa and Baron are creating for this day is not something you can experience just anywhere.

Bassoon and global percussion.

Classical training and rock lineage.

Concert artistry and sound healing.

Breath and rhythm meeting in a way that opens something deeper in the listener.

And it is happening here. In Pomeroy.

There is something profoundly meaningful about world-class musical training and global rhythmic traditions converging inside a small Appalachian town during Cabin Fever Fest.

In the middle of winter, when we are all ready for warmth and connection, we gather to vibrate together.

Come drink ceremonial cacao.
Come ground yourself.
Come listen with your whole body.

This is going to be something special.

See you Meigs County District Public Library at 6pm for this awesome FREE event!

In this 90-minute experience, Michelle Kucera-Jewell will guide us through the basics of how sound and vibration affect the body—from calming the nervous system to helping us feel more present and grounded. She’ll share insights from her work with sound healing and how different instruments create different effects in the body.

Keely Lechler of Foothills Vitality will introduce the OHM Reader—a tool that helps us explore how the body responds to sound by tracking shifts in the electrical system of the body. You’ll get to see a live demonstration and learn about the surprising ways sound can support balance and ease in our everyday lives.

After the talk, we’ll transition into a guided sound healing session, allowing your body to experience the benefits of vibration firsthand through crystal bowls, tuning forks, and other soothing instruments.

Free and open to all. No experience needed—just come as you are.

Bring a yoga mat, blankets, and anything you need to be comfy.

To everyone who has benefited from the 3rd season of Yoga on the River, let's give a big shout-out to our amazing partners in healing. These businesses showed up as generous sponsors, showing that they believe in this community and are committed to healing and wellness. They know that a healthy community is a thriving community. And wow, is this community thriving. Thanks to their support, this weekly movement practice was free to anyone who wanted to attend and we had the biggest turnout yet. The numbers are growing, as are the friendships and the impact! Thank you so so very much for making this possible. And to our amazing teachers, your guidance, wisdom and deep commitment to LIVING your practice in this community is felt. To each of our students... you are why we are here. Thank you for coming to your mat, being in your practice and then taking what you learn off of your mat and into the world. May we all be touched by the ripple....

With Deep Gratitude: Thank You to Our 2025 Yoga on the River Sponsors

As the sun sets on another Yoga on the River - Pomeroy season, we are filled with so much gratitude—for this practice, this place, and this community. What started as a simple riverside offering has become a powerful weekly tradition rooted in wellness, connection, and presence.

This summer, thanks to the generosity of our local businesses, we were once again able to keep every class free and open to all. These sponsorships made it possible for people of all ages and backgrounds to gather in movement, breath, and belonging.

To each of our 2025 sponsors—thank you for believing in this. Thank you for showing up for our community in such a meaningful way.

Please help us celebrate the local businesses that made this season possible:

* River Roasters Coffee Co.
* Vitality Aesthetics & Wellness
* Serenity Spa by Chicly Confident
* The Mindful Neuro
* COURT GRILL
* Farmers Bank
* Gallery 14
* Clark’s Jewelry Store
* Precision Automotive
* Cross Town Service Center
* Swisher & Lohse Pharmacy
* Meigs County Farmers' Market

Each of you is part of what makes this offering possible—and powerful. From first-timers to returning regulars, dozens of people showed up every week to breathe, stretch, laugh, and come back to themselves. And that kind of space matters more than ever.

And, to the teachers who showed up every week to share your wisdom, teachings and practice. Thank you.

We are currently dreaming into what’s next. Thanks to your feedback and the incredible support of our local library, we’ll be continuing into fall, winter, and spring with monthly indoor classes at the Meigs County District Public LibraryMeigs County Library. For now, we close out the summer with full hearts and deep thanks. We’ll see you soon—on the mat, in the community, and by the river once again next year.

The community that has been built, through Yoga on the River, over the last 3 summers is pretty remarkable! Friendships have been built, pain has been reduced, mobility has increased and peace of mind has been experienced. Everyone was extra sad that the summer season ended, and we don't want this momentum to stop! We believe in the power of community, the people of Meigs County and the surrounding areas and the healing power of movement and mindfulness. So, we are creating more opportunities to practice together. Please spread the word. Share with your friends, business owners, and community leaders who may want to be a partner in healing! Let's make wellness accessible for all.

We Heard You — And We’re Keeping Yoga on the River - Pomeroy Going Year-Round!

Thanks to your enthusiastic feedback and growing attendance, we’re excited to share that Yoga on the River will continue through fall, winter, and spring—hosted indoors at the Meigs County District Public Library in Pomeroy.

We’re now inviting local businesses to sponsor off-season sessions, helping us keep these community practices free and accessible to all throughout the year.

Each sponsored class makes space for healing, connection, and movement—right when our community needs it most.

🌿 Classes will be offered 1–2 times a month from October through June, depending on the number of sponsors we receive.

🕕 Off-season practices will be held indoors at the spacious and welcoming Meigs County Library.

💛 Sponsorship includes social media recognition, in-class shoutouts, and the opportunity to support wellness in our region.

We’re looking for partners in healing—businesses, organizations and/or individuals who believe in the power of movement, community, and showing up for one another.

If that’s you, reach out to Michelle at cocreate@thenookontheoyo.com to reserve your spot as a sponsor.

Let’s keep this beautiful offering alive through every season.
